That is really wonderful. When I told my husband your story, he thought it was "wrong" to "switch" pups.... He said, you already have this emotional bond.... So, this is great! I'm sure he'll smile when I tell him your news!

Can you remind me, how old is Gilligan, and when will you get to take him home?

What you really really should do, is take them both... From what I have heard around here you can never have just one..

Oh, he is just soo tiny and precious! I am glad you are getting him after all...I could tell you were already attached. I know you would love the little girl too, but it seems you have a strong bond with this little guy already.
It reminds me of when I got Gabriel. Just before he was supposed to come home, he got really sick and almost died...We thin he got bit by a poisonous spider...
Anyway, the breeder suggested I take a different pup, as we weren't sure what lasting health issues he would have later. I considered it, but I couldn't. I was already attached and Gabe was MY boy!
I wouldn't trade him for any newf on the planet.
Congrats to you and little Gilligan!

ETA: Ooooh, puppy belly!

Looks are not everythin, though i think he looks ever so cute............If he is from a good breder he will probably catch up and be as hansome as all the other littermates at catch-up time.
However our rescue Zacky was a very badly bred newf and had a lot of conformation faults, such as jaw line, up turned tail and a few other things. But he was such a darling and amazing dog, that i will always feel privileged to have owned him. I know that it is important that breeders strive for the best looks and conformation with good character. And I fully support that in every-way, but if there are a few newfies who are not perfect, they will be great in many other ways. But it sounds like yours comes from a good breeder, so Gilligan will most likely catch up.
Congratulations..........If you have formed that special need for him and clicked, you will have a great time owning your new newfie

YAY!!! I'm so happy for you - and for Gilly. To be so loved already. And, selfishly, I was hoping to get to see lots more pictures of Gilligan!!!

I'm so glad your breeder understood your attachment. I'm sure they know that they couldn't be putting Gilly into a better home.
