vomiting and stomach gurgling. Need advice.

Rough night - Avlon threw up 4x last night between 12am - 2am. Her last one (2am) was basically bile. Not sure there was anything left in her stomach. I can tell by her demeanor she is still not feeling right. Her stomach is making so many noises / gurgling it is crazy.

The only change was last night she ate later than normal. Ate her dinner at 8pm (3 cups of TOTW) versus her normal dinner time 5:30 pm. She was fine all day yesterday.

She did poop twice last night during the vomiting episodes.

Should I feed her boiled chicken and rice today if she wants to eat or just give her liquids today and see how she does?

I would give her only water today to let her digestive system relax. I'd start tomorrow with a bland diet. If has seems better and hungry tonight you can start food but only a bit at a time. If she is not better a trip to the vet may be needed.

Exactly what Jeannie said.

If she's not drinking, seems uncomfortable (pacing, panting, won't settle), continues to try to vomit, etc a trip to the vet is in order ASAP.

Was her poop normal last night, or diarrhea? Is there any chance she got into anything she shouldn't have (i.e. ate a toy or other non-food item)?

Sometimes these things just happen - if she stops vomiting and starts to perk up tonight, she's likely just fine!

Her poops last night were normal. She is still lethargic today, one thing that perked her up was the promise of a car ride, but when I lifted her into the car, the pressure on her belly caused her to yelp (not normal). She yelped again when I took her out of the car as well. She has not wanted to drink today and her stomach is making a lot of gurgling noises.

We can take a trip to the ER vet, or we can wait until tomorrow to see our regular vet. The ER vet said they would draw some blood, check her temp and electrolytes - and take x-rays of her stomach if necessary.

Think if she were mine I would take her to the ER vet today if she is feeling uncomfortable in her abdomen. Better safe than sorry. Let us know.

Yup, if pressure on her belly is hurting her, I'd be off the ER vet for sure. I'd be worried about obstruction.

A bit of lethargy is pretty normal following a night of vomiting for sure, but the not drinking and belly pain causes me to worry.

Please keep us posted!!

If she is having pain in her abdomen then I'd take her to the vet to rule out bloat or blockage.

We are on our way home. No obstruction. No bloat. White blood and liver enzyme counts were slightly off (but not enough that they were concerned). X-rays showed no obstructions, but some minor stomach irritation. They gave us anti-nausea pills and said to watch her for abnormal behavior for a few days. We will check with regular vet later this week as well.

Thanks to all for well wishes and advice. Crisis seems to have been averted.
