For those of you who may have missed this, here is a video that is floating around Facebook of a dog in the middle stages of bloat.

Great video of bloat, I was a little worried at the beginning and wondering why they were filming and not at the vets. But it ended well Phewwww

Ditto. My brain is telling me that they were waiting for others to bring them there and decided to make an educational piece out of it while they waited. Yeah, I'm going with that :)

I got the impression they were just filming their new foster and were unaware of what was happening...fortunately they figured out something was wrong and took him in.

I saw the post on FB and couldn't watch. As others had mentioned, I couldn't fathom why they would be video taping when the dog was obviously in some kind of distress. Glad to know ahead of time he is ok, still tough to watch.

That video reminded me of '84 when I was in nursing school. Our anatomy & physiology prof. made us sit through an old time black and white film of a man dying of rabies (from the onset of symptoms to death) with 2 doctors by his bedside. Most of us were just 18 yrs. old. We were told we would get a failing grade on our next test if we didn't sit through it all. I guess she was trying to prepare us for what we'd see once we started our clinicals on the floors of the hospital, but two girls ran out of the lecture hall crying. I realize this video was meant to prepare us, but it was still hard to watch.

It's very hard to watch...but I've always wondered if I'd know when my pups would be in such distress....I will know...no doubt, very upsetting to see but thank you for those that may not know.

My feelings exactly. Which is why I'd never be a good vet, doctor or nurse.

I agree it is hard to watch.. nevertheless I've now subjected my husband to it because SEEING the warning signs seems more effective than just reading about them. Certainly if the people this happened to had had the opportunity before, they might have understood the seriousness of the situation and reacted more quickly. Bloat terrifies me... and part of my fear not being sure I could recognize the difference between just a queasy tummy and a life-threatening condition.
