Upcoming Boofday

Call me crazy, but I want to get Koda an 8 oz filet for her BOOFDAY! She will only turn 1 once so I feel like the ridiculousness should be excused. Should I give it to her raw or cooked? I'm sure some other Newf Netters have done this before so I figure this is a good place to ask. I worry a little about the raw meat, but then again, if she were in the wilderness this would be no problem. She turns 1 on the 30th and I'm getting pretty excited to see the look on her face when she gets a fresh steak!

Happy early B-day, Koda! When I give puppers steak, I usually serve it like Vin eats it, med rare, and then they get my left overs to, which is very well done, shall we say burnt! So I say to each their own!

Such a great idea! I may do the same. Raw is best for the dog. Cooking the meat breaks down the amino acids. Not that, that is a big deal. We feed our kids and 75% raw meat diet and they love it, and it is very good for them. It's the irresponsible humans that give it a bad name by mis-handling the meat and getting themselves sick. Oh have fun! She will love it!

:music:Happy 1st birthday Koda!!:music:
Our guys like their steaks rare, just basically sear them on the grill. London Broil is their favorite unless they get fresh caught fish, they like even better!

Not even remotely crazy! Personally, I would cook the filet...that's just me though. I'm just not too terribly comfortable with raw...though I do give frozen raw marrow bones from time to time. For Mila's birthday I cooked up some Wild Alaskan Sockeye Salmon filets which she absolutely loves, loves, loves; they're only an occasional special treat...

Thanks for the tips everybody. Four more days and counting! I'm going to try to capture this on camera but she may gobble it up before I have a chance. Koda says thanks for all the early boofday wishes!
