I wanted to share this with everyone. I have a Bobby puppy, "Jorgie" that I have posted pictures of. He was extremely low in the pasterns. Very worrysome. So I searched evereywhere for Turkey Necks, and found out my Gro Meat Guy can order them in for me. 40 lbs for 23.00.. I have had him on them for a while now...sole diet, and it is like a miricle ! I can't believe the change. Just wanted to pass this on in case anyone else has a skeletal problem. I am sold !! Julie

Forgive my ignorance.. but are we talking about real turkey necks??? Isn't there bones and stuff that could choke them and why are they so good for dogs. i was always under the impression turkey was very bad for dogs???

Roger on the "real" Jen. I have been feeding them for years. However, I will admit that I put them through a commercial meat grinder. I don't feed them whole.

That's a fantastic price! However you said that was the "sole" diet ... I don't think I'd feed only turkey necks for very long at all ... they need muscle meat and organs too, especially during development periods.

I thought just necks were too boney? Tomorrrow I have my first visit with a nearby raw food coop. Of course, many members order Bell and Evans chicken - which is way too expensive for us most time! I'm working on trying to post a picture of Amerlia here: 2 eye surgeries, and still a goofball with a fauxhawk!

These are RAW..unfrozen, packed in ice. I just "feed them" . I was also feeding chicken quarters, raw..(bone in thigh and leg)But was expensive. The necks have alot of meat on them. Do you think I should feed Kibble too? Dozer gets 1/2 necks and 1/2 kibble...Jorgie is doing so well I hate to change anything. I thought that was a good price too. Lasts about a week for both dogs. It is "not" a balanced raw diet to feed "just" turkey necks - too much calcium... which is fine in an adult dog but not for growing pups as they cannot expel excess calcium.... Adding a neck along with their regular diet would help as that would give the little extra needed during teething to pull up the pasterns.... but not as a complete diet....

Just an FYI and mentioning it for those that may think that is a "complete" raw diet... The goal is to get a balanced calcium/phosphorous ratio and muscle meat is needed to accomplish that....

Look for tripe too! Not sure of what the price will be in the stores these days, but we have a place here on Long Island that sells 40lbs of tripe for about $45.00. Once you get past the smell of the tripe after a couple of feedings, you'll see how much the dogs love it (at least ours do, and the cat too!).
