Trying to Give the People What They Want!

Recently I got some advice/suggestions about products to sell at the My Dog Skookum website. And thank you all very much! We plan to re-design the website.

Bibs seem to be a popular request. I would like to know what your favorite bib is. Is it terrycloth on both sides? Does it slip over the head by elastic band? Is it equally functional on its reversed side? Is terrycloth the preferred material?

I want it to look good, of course, but I want people pleased with its function. So tell me what you like about the bibs you use, or what you would change about the bibs you use.

And maybe eventually we can offer what people would want!

We're also working on the idea of doing custom work based on photos you send in, because that was the most often asked question: "Can you put MY dog's picture on these products?" My husband Kevin is an artist, and he's thinking along the lines of something classy, starting with your photo, but the final result would look like a painting. Though it would involve the computer, this is not just putting a filter over the image in photoshop; it would look better than that, and it would take a lot more time. We're trying to determine how much to charge for that! Soon I hope to have a sample of what I'm talking about. If you have any input on this idea I'm all ears.

Thanks for your time!

My favorite bibs are terrycloth on both sides, slip over the head by elastic band, and yes, are reversible. Most of the ones that folks make for newfs fit Nanook just fine, but look like a hanky on Pooka. *laughing* He really is super-sized.

To be honest, the thing I use the most when the boys are EATING is a very large tea towel, folded into a triangle and then tied around the neck, because they stay flush with the dog's chest even when they bend down to eat or drink, unlike the square bibs on elastic bands, which hang out and down when the dog bends down to eat. The bibs often drag into their bowls. The tea towel doesn't.

Example:

But we use the decorative terrycloth bibs for therapy visits, vet visits, and other trips where we know they will be admired excessively and possibly fed small tidbits that will make them drool.

I second the international shipping, I have a hard time finding them in Canada as well....and my baby needs them!

The coolest bib's I saw at one of the shows was a printed tuxedo front. It just looked so cute on this huge newfy boy and he wore it so proudly. It was made from Terry cloth, but really good quality and a good print.........You could print a girly version of this ( say a picture of some jewellry) or a more casual black/colored tie version for the boys too. I would love to see some of those. We also use towels like Nessa does for our therapy work and for the same reason. I would also ask for overseas........I like the idea of our own dogs :) Ronnie
