Time to find a new vet

Grrrrrr. I have decided to fine another vet. The front desk staff at the place I go now has never been overly friendly, but I have always liked and trusted the doctors. The first doctor I saw when Scout was a puppy was great, but she left the practice. No explanation or notification until I called to schedule another visit, and then all the receptionist told me was there are other doctors Scout could see. So I agreed and his current doctor turned out to be awesome. He spent so much time with him and has always called me personally whenever I had a question or concern. Well, today when I called to schedule I found out that THIS guy left too! It makes me wonder what actually goes on over there. I asked the girl where the doctor went and she said, "I don't really know" I told her I think she does but is not allowed to say. She again said I could see other doctors there, but I declined.
After searching and talking with others, I have found another place. When I called the lady was most helpful and actually scheduled me rather quickly after hearing my concerns. Hopefully the girl at place 1 will fax my records over as requested. I am hopeful that this new practice will be good for Scout and that I can trust them.

Glad that you were able to find another in your area that can get you in pretty quickly. Hope that this works out and that they are very good. Making changes to anything involving medical care whether for yourself or any member of your family can be unnerving! :hugs:

I think that was the toughest part of having a dog again, I went through 3 until we found the right one. Good Luck and hope your luck is a little faster than mine! ;) And I hope the concerns are nothing!

Glad you found another one. Sounds like something is going on in that office to have turnover that often. I've only had problems with the vet techs, and the vet quickly took care of that for me.

Can't wait to see you guys in OC!!

May be the best vet ever! Does seem a bit fishy that two vets left with no warning! Im just guessing, but maybe they got fed up with staff and it was a quick decision to quit.
Hope Scout adores the new vet!

Sounds like this is stemming from management or whomever owns the practice. I did have a similar situation with a vet who really cared and couldn't spend the time with her clients with questions, etc., and she was asked to leave.

Frankly, I think they (some) have become a money making machine. Short visits, etc., and you can't take too much time with those animals with cancer or other terminal diseases. Drives me nuts!

Now, I use a vet that is perpetually late. She is great! But, that is okay, because she takes all the time necessary. I just know when to schedule appointments. 8:00 am at opening or 2:00pm, just after lunch. Then I may have to wait only 10 minutes.

This is a PS for my previous post. Sometimes, the vets they hire are right out of school, essentially, and they will tend to be slower. Understandable. And if the practice is running a chop house, (not literal, but figurative) that could be the problem also.

Have you tried googling the Vet that you really liked? His/her name might pop up and his new location. It could be that something off is going on at that office, or it could also be that people move around a lot and both of those vets had reasons for leaving that were unrelated to the office. But having said that, trust your instincts. Hope you love the new vet!!

I would suggest you contact your state/province vet assoc. I would think they are required to report change of address and where they are working to record their licenses. You should be able to catch up with either of the ones you liked that way, if they didn't move out of state.
