I heard things about tea tree oil being toxic to dogs and yet I have seen it listed as an ingredient in every dog shampoo I checked out. It was the holistic healer that I saw many years ago who told me about tea tree oil. I haven't used it in any case. I prefer to cleanse wounds with peroxide or the epsen salt and water or my favourite is actually apple cider vinegar diluted with water as that is the best anti-fungal/bacterial.
If it is in shampoo it is ok, as it is only a small amount. But it should not be used on its own direct from the bottle. Apple cider vinegar is good but does burn.

Great so I can get coconut oil at Costco and Microlactin at Walmart. I always dilute the acv with water to cut the burning. For rashes including puppy rash I have used Witch Hazel and it's great and doesn't burn. My vet also said that Witch Hazel is okay for rashes. Wow I so love this site and all it's knowledgeable members.
