Strange Behaviour

The post below is from someone that adopted a puppy from a litter I had three years ago. Has anyone experienced this sort of behaviour ?

Hi Nana,
We are all doing great and loving our sweet boy.
We were wondering if you had any suggestions... Blizzie has had a total personality change as the girls are now out of school. We commonly take him to the mine. When the girls are not there he rests and visits with our guests. When the girls are there he panics. He runs in cirles around a pole, he runs in circles around our compressor, at home he runs arond the trampoline. He is hurting his nose as he is intently always sniffing! I called our vet and they said they would look him over and possibly he could get some meds. I didn't like that idea, yet.
Any thoughts or ideas!

Thanks for you help, I will pass it along. I was wondering if he is worried about the children. He loves them very much and like to be with them (A typical Newfie) I thought maybe he was sensing danger at the (tour mine) but he is doing it at home also. I told her to have his thyroid checked along with a full check up. I guess we will wait and see.

I had no Idea what mine meant first, but in your second post i realized it was a Tour...I would think he was protective/anxious about the girls. And maybe something is not quite right there. Dogs are more sensitive. Sniffing is a stress sign. Maybe he finds it to difficult to keep an eye on them ........

I'm thinking you might be right. Maybe they scream, like kids do, when they are on the trampoline, and it's driving him nuts that someone is being hurt. I am trying to put together the connection at the home and at the mine. Something is bothering him for sure.

Is the common denominator the children...in both places? Our Tula, gets terribly stressed when the grandchildren play in our swimming pool. She charges around and around the pool, barking and is very agitated. We believe she thinks the children are in distress. Something is surely bothering him. Kim

Yes Kim, the children do seem to be what is getting him upset. Both at work and at home. He was fine until school got out, and they started going to the mine. It's all very sudden. He loves the children and spends a lot of time with them. I get pictures of him where is is included in sleep over's etc. with the girls, so I know he is not just stressed because they are around more, he loves to be with them, and they love him.
