Spring NN Get-together for MN/WI/ND people?

I have Newfie fever, bad, and am dying to meet other Newfie owners! Would anyone in the MN/WI/ND areas be interested in doing a Spring NN get-together? I could probably organize it, either here (SW corner of MN...Marshall) or somewhere else if someone knew of a spot. Would there be any takers? Others from other states welcome as well, but there seems to be a fair bit of us from this region on here! :D

Even though I'm from IL, since I live within 1 mile of the WI border I'm considered a dual resident, and don't need a passport to cross into WI. So if the date is right, and it's not a zillion miles away, We'd be interested.

If someone knows of a place in WI I have no problem organizing it...maybe we can see how many people are interested and pick kind of a central location? I have no problem driving 6-8 hours, personally.

Possible location at a State Park (or private campground/resort) somewhere?

Does anyone have a central area they prefer? I'd really like to get planning this!
Any months/days in the Spring that work for everyone? I'm very open and can travel and do it just about anytime.

Not sure where everyone is coming from but I like Tammy's idea of having our get together at a state park. Being selfish, there are two nice state parks near us (Willow River and Kinnickinnic). Both less than an hour from the twin cities.

Steve, that would work well for me, not sure how far in WI others on the board are, but if people can kind of agree on a date and if one of those parks would work, I can kind of get going on plans!

I was thinking maybe May? A little warmer then, and maybe less wet than April?
And I can't get over to pick Gilligan up until next Wed., but rest assured I'll be posting lots of pictures!

We would be very interested in a NN get together. I'm on the eastern part of Wisconsin and I know that Winona MN is only a 3 hour drive for us so the locations sounds good so far. I know the end of April is the Newfie National Championship in Michigan but other than that all looks well over here. (please let there be no snow).

If I had a place I would love to host it in honor of Neko's 1st birthday on April 9th. She would freak out if she got to play with tons of Newfies on her birthday. (though the day won't really matter, she will freak out in general with all the new friends)

Haha, sounds good baudkm! How far is the cities from you? I know right where Winona is, as I'm there often for horse shows, it's a beautiful place. Not sure how far it would be for others to travel to Winona?
Steve, looks like Winona is about 2 hours for you?

I'm really open to any month, if April works for everyone, that is fine with me too! Just trying to get a general feeling for what would work for everyone!

Becky, you're about 5 hours from Winona, but since I'm in Fargo all the time we could drive together or something?

Tammy where are you and Peanut at?
So far, with the different cities that you are all from that I've typed in on map quest, Winona, MN seems to be about a 2-4 hour drive. I'm very fimilar with Winona so I could easily set something up.

Chantel,

I'm in Minnetonka, just west of the cities. Peanut and I don't mind driving a few hours, so what everyone thinks will be fine. Heres the State Parks in MN if thats what people decide on. http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/state_parks/map.html

By the way...ummmmm...I'll also have to bring along one really little crazy @ss Springer Spaniel...:devil:...

Just an idea, Great River Bluffs State Park is in Winona. We could reserve one of the group campsites so we don't bother anyone with noisy newfs, not that anyone has a noisy newf:whistling:. The group sites are more secluded and away from the regular campground. They only accommodate tents, but if you have a camper/RV you could still get a regular site for your set up. Just a thought... http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/state_parks/great_river_bluffs/index.html

Sorry I didn't mean a gathering in Winona I was just stating how far it was (I don't travel to the cities so this was point I knew). I think the cities are only a few more hours from Winona so that would be ok for us. March is getting busy for us but any month after is fine.

Tammy, Neko loves all dogs, the crazier the better. I think her and Daisy will have a blast!
