Skin reaction

In the last few weeks I have been noticing that Drako has been itching a lot, which I though it was because of the weather and his changing of puppy coat. I tried to brush his coat more often, get him the puppy swimming pool (which he was not amuse with it) and been giving him some ice to play. When brushing his coat I noticed he can had few bumps on his leg, which at the beginning I thought it was dirt or mud attached to his skin that I didn't noticed before. I kept a close eye on it but unfortunately it seems to be getting worse, now he has 3 more bumps on his belly :(. I've been doing some research and the bumps look like pyoderma (but of course this me comparing his itching patterns and the shape of the bumps), I just hope it's something seasonal and/ or they mentioned that sometimes can affect young dogs prior to puberty. We have an appointment with the Vet this evening.

Please, please keep Drako in your thoughts and fingers crossed.

This are the ones on his leg:

That looks like pyoderma to me. Willis had this as a puppy, too. The vet will likely give you antibiotics and possibly steroids to help with itching. We used the Gentaspray, too. It helps to get them as dry as possible after swimming. You might want to invest in a good dryer if you haven't already.

Best of luck taming the itchies. Hope Drako feels better soon.

If you look up some of my previous posts you'll find tons of skin issues I have with Myra, those don't look to bad. How old is Drako now? Do you have him on any flea meds? What food are you feeding and have you changed anything within the last 6 months?

How old is Drako now? - He is 3 months old
Do you have him on any flea meds? - Yup, the vet will be the one applying his flea meds whenever we visit him for his shots.
What food are you feeding and have you changed anything within the last 6 months? - Since he came I've been feeding him with"Nutro Natural Choice Limited Ingredient Diet Lamb & Whole Brown Rice Formula Large Breed Puppy Food". The only problem we have with him was an upset stomach problem at the beginning because of the food switch and he also had Coccidiosis (He had antibiotics for 10 days).

Same with Elvis.........at least the first time. Apaprently "puppy pyoderma" is common, so that's what we thought Elvis had. When it kept coming back every other month we had to move on and discuss the possibility of food allergies.

Give the antibiotics, use the spray, keep him dry, and then watch to see if it happens again. You may even want to write it down somewhere - dates, signs, symptoms, and recent activity - so you have a good record if it happens again. We probably could have diagnosed Elvis' allergies a lot sooner if I had kept better documentation about it!

As with all things, take this one step at a time. It could (and hopefully will be) just a single case of pyodrerma. Don't go down the allergy train or automatically assume something is horribly wrong with your puppy. I know it's hard, but he'll be fine. The only issue with asking for advice here is that you'll get it all - the good, the bad, the ugly, and the holy-crap-I-hope-that-never-happens-to-me!!

This is so TRUE! Perfect. Sometimes I don't want to open a post that starts with Prayers or some that look like they will be horrific. :shuffle:

They can also be prone to skin irritations .l had to witch hazel several of my dogs for itchy bumps and rashes especially in the little boy areas.sometimes it can go with age but definetly treat with a spray and if it gets worse ask a vet to check.
Hope he is bettet soon

My poor Gabriel...I have not seem him scratch at all. Either it just doesn't itch, or his circulation is so poor now he doesn't feel it.

UPDATE:

Thank you for answering, and for showing me that I'm not near to the ugly, or to the holy-crap-I-hope-that-never-happens-to-me. We went to the Vet. they got some skin sample and basically let me know that it was Pyoderma. Drako got the antibiotics for 10 days. We will be going back to the vet in two weeks.
