I don't like to use shampoo which contains sodium lauryl sulfate, parabens or any other nasty chemicals on our precious Newfies. I've been searching for a safe alternative for some time now and just found these products yesterday. I ordered the conditioning shampoo and the spray on conditioner. There are several other interesting versions at the Amazon site.

NuHemp Omega Eazz Conditioning Shampoo with Oatmeal 12 Ounce

NuHemp Omega Shine Coat Conditioning, Detangling & Revitalizing Spray 12 Ounce

They are currently having a special - if you buy four you get one free, plus free shipping. You can mix and match the different versions.

I agree Charity! I haven't tried the product you mention, but I use another one I really like! It is Earthbath Tree Tree and Aloe Shampoo. It is great for a dog with allergies or skin issues too!

Earthbath Tea Tree and Aloe Vera Shampoo

Price: $10.95

Shipping Weight: 1.00 pounds

Tea Tree Oil & Aloe Vera Shampoo

Natural anti-inflammatory oils and soothing emollients help speed the healing of itchy, chafed skin and hot spots caused by flea bites, dandruff, or other dermatitis. Your pet will be healthier and happier after just one use.

Tea Tree Oil has long been recognized as an effective and beneficial ointment for hot spots, skin irritations, insect bites and itching. We added aloe vera, a soothing emollient, to help moisturize your best friend's skin. Your pet will feel healthier and happier after just one use.

Ingredients:
Purified water, natural cleansers, aloe vera, melaleuca oil (tea tree), xanthan gum. All ingredients are natural, 100% biodegradable, and extra gentle on you and your pet.

Instructions for Use
Shake well before using to ensure that natural ingredients are in suspension. On a wet coat, lather your pet thoroughly with a few good palm-fulls of Earthbath Totally Natural Pet Shampoo. For best results, leave on coat for several minutes to allow time for the tea tree and aloe vera to work their wonders. Rinse off. Towel dry thoroughly with a big hug. Please be careful... tea tree oil can sting eyes. For luxurious conditioning and detangling manageability, use in conjunction with Earthbath Coat Detangler & Conditioner. May be diluted ten parts water to one part shampoo if desired.

Non-ingredients
Everything that would either harm your pet or the environment. This product contains no DEA, phosphates (which deplete oxygen in our water supply by stimulating algal growth), no enzymes, no synthetic dyes, and no chlorine bleaches. The sudsy runoff is completely safe and will not harm kids, lawns, or other living things.

The NuHemp Conditioner and Detangler is great...and it smells like they just had a bath! I must confess that I use the spray to quickly "freshen" up their bedding and the door mat too! I love this product!

I have also used the NuHemp shampoo you mentioned but I found that it didn't really lather up well and I went through quite a bit...having said that, it as also really easy to rinse it all out! And did I mention that it smells really good!

Most sulfate-free shampoos don't lather up as much. Part of what the sulfate does is help make more lather. I use sulfate-free shampoo myself, to help the color job last longer on my hair. It is hard to find and always more expensive, but more are coming out now.
