It's in the AKC Board of Director November meeting minutes.

Realignment of Point Schedule Divisions
The Board considered a Staff proposal to realign the point schedule divisions. The goal was to minimize the differences in average entries among the states in the current Divisions. The proposal would create the following Divisions.
1. CT, MA, ME, NH, RI, VT
2. DE, NJ, PA, NY
3. DC, MD, NC, TN, VA, WV
4. FL, GA, SC
5. IN, OH, KY
6. IA, KS, MO, NE
7. OK, TX, CO
8. OR, WA
9. CA, AZ
10. AK
11. HI
12. PR
13. ID MT, ND, NV, SD, UT, WY, NM
14. AL, AR, LA, MS
15. IL, MI, MN, WI
Following a motion by Dr. Davies, seconded by Dr. Smith, it was VOTED (unanimously; absent Mr. Gladstone and Mr. Goodman), to consider the matter at this meeting, waiving the usual advance notice requirement. Following a motion by Dr. Smith, seconded by Ms. Scully, it was VOTED (unanimously; absent Mr. Gladstone and Mr. Goodman), to approve this realignment, effective with the May 2012 point schedule.

Great. We will now never have majors in MN if we are using the entry numbers in MI and IL to compute averages. This will make it even more difficult and require travel greater distances. Where were the MN AKC delegates when this was being voted on????

We're thinking same in TX using entry numbers in CO to compute averages. Talked to several people with other breeds who feel same way.

Looks like you all will have to come to ND! :) Heck, here a breeder can easily create their own major. I can handle one of the sacrificial dogs so you can be assured it won't take the points. ;) ;) ;)

MI seems to ALWAYS have majors with the current schedule--so interesting they're being paired with MN.

Ted--is that AKC or UKC groupings?

Guess we can only hope it has the opposite effect. Instead of CO pulling our numbers up, we can only hope OK and TX combined will pull numbers down or at least make them average out to what they are now. But, I have my traveling shoes ready - thinking I'll be be on the road a bit more. And sadly, if everyone else begins to travel out of state to find majors, it will effect the economy of our local shows. Most clubs are struggling the way it is, some have pulled out of the rotation, and some have closed their doors.

And the possibility of adding 2 more groups?? Means more money to AKC, more expenses for clubs (additional judges, additional ring space, additional stewards, etc.). Pretty soon there won't be any clubs to hold shows - no one will be able to afford it.

It's more than 2 groups. Proposal info is on AKC website.

I had about the same thoughts about this.

And this will effect judges as well. For example, judges currently approved for the Working group will still be able to judge all breeds in the Working-Utility, except Dalmatians. If a judge does not get approval for Dalmatians within the 2 year period, they will lose approval for the entire Working-Utility group. Gee, even more money to AKC; more expenses for clubs.

Can only hope. Should be interesting once new point schedule comes out. Board minutes says they have not pulled out specialties in computations to allow areas to make more majors. :bah: I heard something fairly interesting not long ago about all this but won't go into on forum. Have to talk to me personally sometime. Actually glad I'm on a break for a bit while pupster grows up some and others mature out more to see how this plays out.
