Rain

So this may sound like the most basic question ever but, do I need to dry Moosh every time she comes in from the rain?

And I'm not talking a towel dry. I just bought the K9 mini and I'm wondering how often I should be using it. She likes to just hang out in the rain (I leave the door open in case she wants to come inside) so is coming in and out much of the day.

Thoughts?

I can't drag out my dryer everytime. If she is getting extremely wet and its not a problem to use it, it probably wouldn't be a bad idea to avoid infections, etc. Since mine is a problem, I will grab a towel if they are soaked. You'll probably have to use your judgement. :bear:

Is she still just sporting a puppy coat or does she have enough guard hair that she is not soaked to the skin?

She has adult coat on her back but still puppy fluff on the sides/legs/head/beard. Sometimes saturated all the way through, sometimes not. Problem is it stays damp for a while even if not to the skin

If she's staying damp to the skin.. pull out the dryer. With Obie's adult coat, I don't have to do that with just a quick romp or potty break in the rain. Also, someone on here once made the point that -towel- drying a newf after a rain-run actually pushes the water deeper in the coat. So, I've found it is actually better to use a light going over with a microfiber towel or let him shake it off and "fan" dry!

I use a Micro-Fiber cloth, and I just go a couple of Shammies (real ones) to try. My K-9 III is in the kitchen all of the time if needed.

My K-9 111 sits on the deck right outside the kitchen door year round. Tiika gets blown after every walk before she comes in - that's usually twice a day. If she's out in the rain in between walks, like just a few minutes ago, she gets blown off again before she comes in.
