Question!

Does any of your newfs resting/lying like this, with his back legs stretched out completely backwards?

Some people suggested me that this way of lying may be the sign of hyp displasia??

Does anyone heard something like this? Do I need to be worried or not?

My three year old lays that way constantly. She tucks her front legs under but lets those back legs go. Sometimes the back legs are folded like a frog, sometimes straight out behind.
I think she likes the cool tile on her tummy.
We call this her baby seal look.

Eloise did that as a puppy, but doesn't anymore. I don't know if it has anything to do with hip displasia, I've never heard of that. They may just be more flexible, or just more determine to cool off the tummy on the cold tiles!! lol

This has just been discussed on another forum of which I am a member. Some people reported that their dogs with very good hips lie this way and others whose dogs are known to have bad hip dysplasia also lie this way so it would seem to be no indication of hips being good or bad.

Incidently, my crossbreed lies this way and I suspect that his hips are not so good. My Newf used to lie like this when she was smaller but doesn't do it so much now.

It's very normal. Puppies do it frequently...adult dogs don't do it as much but I've noticed that our one male, who has EXCELLENT hips, does it all the time. Much more than any of the others, in fact. I always thought that the reason he could do it is because his hips are SO good!
