Proud Mama Brag!

So it's been 17 months since I hurt my ankle, and 10 since my surgery. It's finally starting to not hurt as much, so we've started regular walkies again.

This morning we walked and Maggie started pulling me-I've haven't been doing much because I figured it would be a struggle getting back into good habits-it's been a really long time. I said, "Walk Nice, Maggie" and she immediately dropped back to my side and stayed there!!! She just walked next to me, wagging her tail. I was so proud of her. And this was all without her prong collar, ( which we haven't been using much anyway ) AND a squirrell was taunting her!! :icon_bb:

I just had that same proud moment when Chumley didn't pull the entire walk. I thought to myself, "Wow, I never thought I'd see this day!" It's so peaceful and calm walking a dog that actually walks at your pace. It's such a milestone. Good job Maggie...I'm sure she knows what you wanted. It's good to hear you can walk Maggie again.

Awesome! I know some people are anti-prong collars, but I had excellent luck using them on my Newfs up till about age 2 or 3. Then they seemed to realize you just don't pull the Mom. And of course the collar is on loosely enough that it doesn't hurt them.

But when it comes to the choice between a prong collar or a young dog darting into the street (pulling me after a squirrel or deer), I'll take the collar any day.

Aww....she's all grown up!

She's getting there! She still insists on grabbing whatever article of clothing she can find and standing near me when I'm eating so I'll see her and she can give it to me and then possibly receive a treat. I'm hip to her tricks though.

I lurve my big smoochy nose!
