Please help...What is this?

What is this? The one on the right is a hot spot. The one in question looks like a volcano the size of a dime. It had a scab in the middle.

Could it possibly be an infected inverted nipple? Zeke had one once...but that looks a bit worse than his. Does he have a nipple on the other side, roughly same spot?

No real advice, except to say it possibly looks like some kind of infected bite or parasite. I'd probably have the vet check it out just to be safe. Hope its nothing serious!

Dawn,
You were right....or at least that's what the vet (dermatologist) thinks at this point.

Infected inverted nipple. So med's for now, if not better by Monday...then the vet will take it off and send it away to see if it's cancer. But for now, he doesn't think it's cancer.

By the way...found out that dogs don't have to have matching nipples on both sides. We had looked to see if there was another nipple on opposite side, but there wasn't.

Hmmm, guess I always thought they had to match on the opposite side too. I hope that's the issue, cause Zeke's was easily resolved (no vet, once I realized but I found nipple opposite side ;) ) I stuffed neosporin on a q-tip in it for about a week or two...once the infection calmed I tried to pop the nipple back out, with success and I haven't noticed any issue since then (he was probably just about a year old when that happened) but I'll be sure to look again now and make sure it's still out! Wishing you the best for your boy!
