I was at work last night and we had some new nurses on duty from the Philipines (sp?). I walked up to the desk in the middle of a conversation and one of the regular nurses was laughing and said to me that he thought I needed to invite the "new nurses" to my house for a bbq. I asked why my house. It is then that they informed me that in the Philipines, DOG is high on the menu and at my house they could have a week-long feast!!!!

I will NEVER invite them to my house for food! How rude.

Not only rude but wrong as well ... While dog is on the menu in several Asian countries, the Philippines isn't one of them. I have several friends from the Philippines and lived there on a couple of occasions. Most of my neighbors have pets - both dogs and cats - and are as lovingly possessive of them as we are ...

People like your colleague should take a win a free trip to the outer islands of Papua New Guinea --- it's not dog that's on the menu !!!

Gee too bad you are so far from me, I would love to have you come and speak to my Kindergartners on foreign places you have lived and visited! I am always looking for a new link to provide info. I will PM you!
