What a way to start summer break! Kids and I came in from pool to discover Maggie on the couch with my sugar container, licked clean of course!
Called vet to see if she had done any damage to herself. Explained that the big ol Newf was counter surfing and got a hold of the sugar. Ate about a cup and a half.
After dear vet tech could contain her laughter, she said she would check with vet for answers. Comes back to the phone, tells me not to worry, just watch out for SUGAR HIGH!! Heck, now Im WORRIED. Newf and sugar high should never be used in the same sentence...EVER!
I am almost hoping for a diabetic coma so I can clean her ears and trim her nails. Might as well make the best of the situation!
This could turn out to be a very interesting evening.

Clifford was fine when he got mine off the counter and ate about a cup of sugar. Unfortunately he didn't just take it to the couch like Maggie, I found my sugar bowl broken all over the kitchen floor.

Waiiiit a minute. I see the problem here: "Kids and I came in from pool to discover Maggie on the couch with my sugar container, licked clean of course"

You didn't bring Maggie in the pool with you?! Well, of course she was going to rebel!! :)

It's the name, it has to be. And at least you know that a sugar high always ends with a crash, so she'll be snoozing soon after. Just stand out of her way while she's zooming.

Heres how the night went....
Maggie was pretty laid back for a while. Thought we were in the clear. Then she spied her ball! TIME TO PLAY! We played ball FOREVER! Back and forth..over and over. Guess we werent keeping up speed so she decided to play by herself. She will take the ball and drop it down the stairs, fetch it and return up the stairs. We had been eliminated from play time. lol.
Daddy came home and it was ON! She was all over that poor man! Jump, spin, repeat...
She had a mellow point and layed down. Noticed that she had a lil somethin on her nose, humm....SUGAR! Looked her over and saw that she was sugar coated from the top of her nose all the way to her paws. I don't know why this surprised me! This is a dog who cant get a drink from her water bowl with out looking like shes been in a dunk tank!
So off we go outside for a bath. She was loving the cool water and was a very good girl for her bath. All sugar was removed, whew. Then time to dry. She zoomed around the deck as fast as she could. The deck was wet of course so she almost wiped out at every turn. Then she saw it....HER TAIL! Round and round and round she went. Husband stuck his head out and saw this. Looked at me and I told him she was on spin cycle!
Now back inside... she took off around the living room like a bat out of hell! Around the coffee table, over the couch..children went flying. They fled to their rooms and we stayed to watch the redneck dog race. (she won of course)
Time for a walk.
She played with some of her doggie buddies and walked till I got tired. Home at last. She finally wore down. THANK GOODNESS! The rest of the evening was very peaceful, untill..the power went out! Thats a whole other story though!
