Oakley visiting Moby (lots of pics)

Our daughter & son in law arrived back from Athabasca Alberta on Tuesday evening. At Christmas Jacilyn brought her kitten Kali with her on the plane. This time Oakley the 7 month old Golden Retriever made the drive from Athabasca over a few days. At 1st I was concerned about Moby’s behaviour. He has been possessive of his toys and does want to play the ‘dominant’ dog which is easy at 145+ pounds. I was also concerned about food incidents as Moby does love to eat.
So we had them meet at a local park first and Moby displayed his usual greeting to a new dog, I will lean all over you. We brought them home and they ran around the back yard for a while with Moby chasing Oakley which usually ended up with Moby laying on poor Oakley (145 lbs. to 65 lbs.). A little worried that this could be a very challenging stay.
I am very proud to report that they are getting along great. They still have the chase games but ½ the time Oakley in the initiator. Moby still ends up over Oakley but he is standing not laying down and is waiting for Oakley to run again. Oakley has adapted his game to grab Moby’s thick fur. As for the food we still feed them separately but they have shared treats, cucumber pieces on the floor with Oakley walking over and stealing one of Moby’s cucumbers.
Things are going great and we now have two very tired dogs, especially Moby :sleepy:

A few pictures of their play time which now is initiated by either of them. Have to wonder how it will be in a years time when Oakley fills out to his Dad's 95 .lbs?

Lets hope the good times continue :dance01:

Very cute! FWIW I've always fed my dogs separately - first gated in different rooms and now just at different ends of a room, rumps facing each other. Easier to avoid problems that way - especially with a part time visitor.

Moby may be bigger but I bet Oakley is faster - they will have an even match and great friendship for years! :)

They sure look like they are having fun. Always great when they make new friends.
