Not A Newf, But A Friend To MANY!

With a heavy heart we say goodbye to Lucky this afternoon. Lucky had a very bad start in life. He was born in the slums of Decatur, IL and belonged to a family of....well I rather not say. Lucky's soon to be Mom is a nurse for the County Health Dept. She saw this dog at a very young age...maybe just weened on the porch visiting a client. She knew the chances of having a good home was nill to none. I think she offered like $5.00 for the puppy and the rest is history. He was Lucky! I want to say he was 14 or more. Anyway Lucky's Mom and Dad are very active in River King Newf Rescue, so Lucky has had many Newfs come and go from his home, some theirs and countless fosters. Lucky was also a Pet Partner Therapy dog. He went to nursing homes in his prime to be loved on. He was also a *brother* to Tigger who stayed with us numerous time before his journey to the Rainbow Bridge over a year ago. Anyway he will be missed greatly, but is now among many friends and *relatives* waiting at the Rainbow Bridge.

Taken at a local rescue fund raiser event this past September.

Please send condolences to Lucky's family. It sounds as if they were luck too, to have such a loving dog. Rest well, Lucky.
