NN letting go

My brothers one Shihtzu ( he has two, sisters), has been at Purdue U for a week today. She has a blood disease that is very rare, in the past they have treated her, and she came home for maybe a year, this time they have been doing blood transfusions, and even giving human hemogloban. Night before last we thought maybe it was the end, but today she is all perky again.
Purdue has been wonderful throughout all of this, they keep in touch frequently, and someone is always carrying her around or putting her hair in a top knot.

It is tearing my brother, and sister in law apart. It is never easy letting go.

Caring for and watching someone you love struggle towards the end is hell. I'm sure you are giving them some comfort by listening and being there for them.

Today my sister-in-law told me they were going to tell purdue to stop all the testing, and bring her home to let go. Then purdue called and said to take her home they thought she would do better at home (she has been there a week). My sister-in-law has never had children, so even more than most people she has treated these two ShihTzu like the children she never had. It is so hard for her.
I hope Lucy makes it, but I know the time she has left will be full of love. She is a sweet little dog.
Thank you for your thoughts!
