Hey all... looking for a bit of information here, figured I'd turn to the bestest group of dog people in the universe (shameless buttering up, I know.)
Here's the situation:
I work part time at our local SPCA. Just over a year ago there was a dog/puppy abuse case in our small city - chow/retriever mix puppy who was beaten/kicked/liquored up by an extremely troubled young man (both my daughter and I know the kid, and he's always had anger issues - but I digress) and Brownie was signed over to the shelter, first because he was key to the abuse case then as a permanent resident. At the time of the abuse, Brownie was about 5 or 6 months old, as a consequence of the abuse he is blind or partially blind in one eye and his brain function is stalled at that age. As we all know, it is extremely difficult to find homes for these special needs kids, and believe me, Brownie will need a very understanding and special home! He is a love, loves to be told he's a good boy, but understandably gets a bit over zealous in his affection at times.
The director has lost the name of a contact that she had with someone who does local chow rescue and asked me if I'd check around to see if we can find a rescue that will take him.
If anyone has the name/number of a chow/chow mix rescue that we would be able to contact to see if they'd be willing to take on this wonderful boy, please PM me - no one even looks at him at the shelter, and it would be wonderful for him to even have a foster home that understands him and is willing to work with him. Thanks in advance for your help!
