NN - Information regarding Chow/ Chow Mix rescue

Hey all... looking for a bit of information here, figured I'd turn to the bestest group of dog people in the universe (shameless buttering up, I know.)

Here's the situation:
I work part time at our local SPCA. Just over a year ago there was a dog/puppy abuse case in our small city - chow/retriever mix puppy who was beaten/kicked/liquored up by an extremely troubled young man (both my daughter and I know the kid, and he's always had anger issues - but I digress) and Brownie was signed over to the shelter, first because he was key to the abuse case then as a permanent resident. At the time of the abuse, Brownie was about 5 or 6 months old, as a consequence of the abuse he is blind or partially blind in one eye and his brain function is stalled at that age. As we all know, it is extremely difficult to find homes for these special needs kids, and believe me, Brownie will need a very understanding and special home! He is a love, loves to be told he's a good boy, but understandably gets a bit over zealous in his affection at times.
The director has lost the name of a contact that she had with someone who does local chow rescue and asked me if I'd check around to see if we can find a rescue that will take him.

If anyone has the name/number of a chow/chow mix rescue that we would be able to contact to see if they'd be willing to take on this wonderful boy, please PM me - no one even looks at him at the shelter, and it would be wonderful for him to even have a foster home that understands him and is willing to work with him. Thanks in advance for your help!

Thanks, guys!

I'll tell ya, if it weren't for hubby being such a neatnick, I'd foster Brownie myself - but I'm afraid that since he's not housetrained (and it would take A LOT to get him there due to his mental facilities) and being so uninhibited. He IS a love, and it's a shame that this monster (who incidentally was just last year convicted in the death of an infant!!) so cruelly treated him. I know that when he first arrived at the shelter it was touch and go with him - they didn't know if he'd make it, aside from the brain damage he had a few broken bones, and a broken jaw! He's so "proud" when you tell him he's a good boy, and as long as you keep his routine (just as with any blind/partially blind being) he gets along really well. I'll pass the information along to our director.

The Merlin's Hope group sounds like it might be a possibility for him. I hope he finds a family who will at least foster him long term, to give him a home life.

I passed along the information on Merlin's Hope to our director, and she emailed them straight away. I'll try to remember to ask her Monday if she's heard anything back from them. We did have a lady call expressing interest in Brownie, but we had to turn her down - she lives in an apartment (he's not housebroken, and it will take some MAJOR work to get him even close) and she is a senior - Brownie definitely needs someone with some strength as he doesn't know his own, nor can he control it very well - we don't want someone who, say, is on Coumadin or something where he could unintentionally injure them. Please keep him in your thoughts! Thanks again for the leads.
