Newfstock photos???

The first one is a picture of Jeff and I'm ashamed to admit I forgot the name of his newly rescued dog, I believe, obtained from Newf Friends. So nice to have met you in the pouring rain Jeff.

Jessica taking a pic of her Millie at the kissing booth:

Jessica and I had the day from hell trying to get to Newfstock. High winds made my ferry crossing feel like the Titanic, Jess and her mom got two tickets within 5 minutes of changing drivers, Millie tripped over the pumping gas hose and knocked it out of the tank burning her paws until they got her cleaned up, Chumley dove into a lake head first off a pier and had to be loaded back in the car soaking wet as there were no towels, Jessica's mom's brand new car smelled like gasoline, and Chumley dove through a glass door due to separation anxiety. Our stress threshold was already reduced due to 10 hours of driving that day. So...we decided to end the day with a gin and tonic!

Scary ferry crossing into Canada:

Oh my, Stacy! Sounds like you sure deserved that G&T! I've been on that little ferry between Cape Vincent and Wolfe Island many times and I've never seen it like that! WOW! And by Saturday you seemed so calm! I don't know how you unwound so well after all that. Was the ferry any better on the way home? And was the one from Wolfe Island to Kingston any better? I hope so, given that it's about 10 times bigger.

The national ferry from Wolfe Island to Kingston was, of course, much better but you could still see waves crashing.

We decided not to take the ferry back home to Pennsylvania. We took the bridge to 81. If you ever take the ferry to Wolfe Island again, you MUST go to their local bakery. Everything is soooooo good. It's located right next to where the cars have to line up to take the national ferry.

Yes, I know that bakery. I don't think I've been in there. I might have when I was little, if it was even there then. I lived in Kingston for two years when I was 4 and 5. Most of my young whippersnapper days were spent growing up in Belleville, about 50 miles east of Kingston.

I don't blame you for taking I-81 home. I drove the whole length of it last fall when we visited friends in Nashville. We took I-81 all the way to the border. Nice trip! I was quite amused when we went through 4 states (Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland and Pennsylvania) in the space of 40 minutes.

I saw that on the Welcome Wagon after, Jeff. I think it's such a compliment to a dog that's passed away when a person gets another dog. Life is incomplete without a dog. :)

Saw some photos of newfstock. The dogs were all gorgeous. Looked like a great event.

I'm glad to hear the Wolfe island ferry still runs. There was talk of shutting it down a few decades ago. Sorry it was such a rough trip for you guys.

The ferry between Kingston and Wolfe Island is still very busy, especially in the summer. There are a lot of wealthy folks who have cottages there now and it's still a farming hub. I don't think that ferry is going anywhere. The ferry to Cape Vincent on the other hand, is a private business and I don't know if it's doing as well as it used to. I have heard some chatter about it shutting down but I don't know how seriously it should be taken.

I think the ferry between Kingston and Wolfe island is nationally funded, which is why I was confused when they didn't take a fee from us even as U.S citizens. I heard tell the path between the mainland and the island is kept free of solid ice in the winter with underwater air lines. I felt sorry for the smaller, private ferry operators who charged us just $15 to cross such rough waters and we were the only passengers. I knew they took a loss.

Did you notice the Newfie buttons on the hat Dawn? So cute. I'm pretty sure the $26,000 that they raised came from all the raffle tickets I bought trying to win something, anything at all. As my luck would have it....nothing. Though I will say that everyone else in front, next to, and behind me won something, even Jessica won 2 baskets. I get very competitive come rafflle time.
I sure wish we could see you and Vin next month at Ocean City. You MUST go next year if you really can't make this year.
