The national ferry from Wolfe Island to Kingston was, of course, much better but you could still see waves crashing.Oh my, Stacy! Sounds like you sure deserved that G&T! I've been on that little ferry between Cape Vincent and Wolfe Island many times and I've never seen it like that! WOW! And by Saturday you seemed so calm! I don't know how you unwound so well after all that. Was the ferry any better on the way home? And was the one from Wolfe Island to Kingston any better? I hope so, given that it's about 10 times bigger.
Yes, I know that bakery. I don't think I've been in there. I might have when I was little, if it was even there then. I lived in Kingston for two years when I was 4 and 5. Most of my young whippersnapper days were spent growing up in Belleville, about 50 miles east of Kingston. The national ferry from Wolfe Island to Kingston was, of course, much better but you could still see waves crashing.
We decided not to take the ferry back home to Pennsylvania. We took the bridge to 81. If you ever take the ferry to Wolfe Island again, you MUST go to their local bakery. Everything is soooooo good. It's located right next to where the cars have to line up to take the national ferry.
Thanks, Marlis. Kera is great. She's snoozing beside me right now. I posted a thread in the Welcome Wagon section a little while ago if you want all the details.I didn't know you had a new dog Jeff. Congratulations. I'm pleased for both of you.
The ferry between Kingston and Wolfe Island is still very busy, especially in the summer. There are a lot of wealthy folks who have cottages there now and it's still a farming hub. I don't think that ferry is going anywhere. The ferry to Cape Vincent on the other hand, is a private business and I don't know if it's doing as well as it used to. I have heard some chatter about it shutting down but I don't know how seriously it should be taken.Saw some photos of newfstock. The dogs were all gorgeous. Looked like a great event.
I'm glad to hear the Wolfe island ferry still runs. There was talk of shutting it down a few decades ago. Sorry it was such a rough trip for you guys.
Did you notice the Newfie buttons on the hat Dawn? So cute. I'm pretty sure the $26,000 that they raised came from all the raffle tickets I bought trying to win something, anything at all. As my luck would have it....nothing. Though I will say that everyone else in front, next to, and behind me won something, even Jessica won 2 baskets. I get very competitive come rafflle time.OMG, I had no clue that anyone out there has my kinda luck.....so glad to hear you drank it off (lol) miss you guys & looks like it was a blast even with the poopy weather and WOW...what a great fund rasing job was done!!!! Thanks for sharing the pix!
ps...I want that hat Jess!!!!!
