Newfoundlands Today

I am just finishing up my copy of this book and wanted to just say that I personally found it to be a really nice book. The illustrations, descriptions and photos were wonderful. The book even goes so far as to tell about some of the kennels that have contributed to the Newfoundland.

This book is part of "The Travelling Book" swap in the other thread. Just wanted to throw out my opinion in case others wanted to read it as well.

I have this book (found it while randomly looking in the "Pets" section of Barnes and Noble...and now I think it's becoming rare; kind of cool), and it's definitely my favorite guide to the breed. The kennel section is so fascinating!

Holy Paws, It's $185 on Amazon! Is there anyway I can get on the travel book list? I'd love to take a peek. I also have a copy of that book "Living with Giants" or whatever its called that I can pass around, too.
Now I found it for $20, phew! Is this the one by Hedd and Richards?

yes shadie lady it is the 1997 edition by dell and hedd richards. I bought two by mistake which is why my spare is with Lisa. To anyone who has or is just getting a newf it is invaluable as it helped show me lots of tips and info. I used it to help trace Beau's lineage and $187 is nothing . I have seen the 1998 version going for as much as $346 before. It is a great book and is a very easy and informative read.

Thanks for the info! Is the 98 edition pretty much the same, do you know?

I couldnt see much difference between the two years so cant understand the price difference. have kept my 98 version though just in case as am always referring to it and it is getting more difficult for new newfie owners to find a copy so have lent it out this side of the pond a few times.

That would be my luck. That's the only Newf book that Hugo ate as a puppy. The Bruce Weber book is safely stored where the dogs can't entertain themselves with it.
Well, that one is around $300 on Amazon. Is it really that good? It said something about a collectible.

perhaps you could do a travelling Bruce Weber book as I was interested in that but the price tag put me off. Is it really worth the money as when I go back to work then I want to get it but only if it is worth the cash

I really like this book as well--I found the 1997 version about three years ago at a discount book store for $8. It's definitely one of my favorites.

Interesting..... I just happened to go by my local library to look for books on canine structure and found The Newfoundland Today. I also found another Nefoundland book by Emily Bruno. So, I checked them both out.

In any event, check your public libraries. You never know what you may find.
