Dawn made us buy a CRV, glad we did, plenty of room & good mileage. Get the custom fit floor mats, easy to clean (leather interior is easier to clean or just get coverking seat covers from COSTCO). Tiki still prefers the Dodge Ram Dually, he gets the rear seat & likes being up high. He has no problems getting in. WeatherTech rubber floor liners are the best.

I forgot to add that the explorer has rear air vents in the roof, which I love! We don't have to freeze ourselves out to keep them cool in the summer or winter for that matter. While we need heat up front they can still be cool in the back with the separate vents.

I have a Subaru Outback that I love but it is a little small. Yes they do have an issue with the headgaskets at about 100K miles but my understanding is that has been resolved in the new model. My Subaru has had very few problems and it is a 2005 (no head gasket problem yet) but then it only has about 90,000 miles on it. Put snow tires on it every winter (I live in a very hilly area) and it gets through everything. We even have a trailer hitch on that pulls a small trailer or boat. It has been great.

I did see a Ford Flex that I fell in love with but not enough to take on a car payment.

Went and test drove some cars today, and I just adore the Honda CRV. I think that's probably going to be "the one." Although...I did really like the GMC Terrain as well. The seats slide forward or backwards so you can make a huge cargo area, and they fold down flat if you need them. Anyone have a GMC Terrain?

Go ahead and make fun of me but I love our Honda Odyssey mini van. Very low so it's easy to get in and out. Plenty of room for four people, two newfs and stuff. Decent gas mileage and it's quiet.

Did the seats in the terrain fold flat or "kind of flat"? We looked at it a couple years ago but they didn't really get flat. Kind of made the rear cargo area not as useable with a "ramp" effect in the front part.

The Terrain is just a glorified chevy, (more bells & whistles) it's all in what your looking for?? Longevity or just something to get you buy for the loan of the car and then trade in??? I put my parents into an Odyssey (knowing it will be the last vehicle they buy) and love to borrow it...pups have an easier time getting in an out. If Subaru has changed things that would be wonderful, (just put over 2k into a customer's, we are aware it needs a head gasket for the 2nd time shortly at 150k) I'd put them up with the Honda's and the Toyota's. Sad to think that the american cars can't do what's right :( Otherwise I'd recommend them.

P.S. Mike, you and Linda will be happy, promise, the CRV is well worth it :)

P.S.S. If you have winter blend in your state right now you can't calculate mileage properly. I loose 50 miles to the tank with winter blend fuel.

My mom just got the terrain and she loves it. It is supper roomy. My dad is 6'2'' and can sit in the back seat very comfortably(not that he ever will).
I have a Kia Sportage and with the rear seats up I can transport 1 newfie and 1 lab or golden. With seats down 1 newfie, 1 lab, 1 golden, & 1 mangy mutt all fit no problem. With the seat up the cargo area holds all my water training gear and collapsable crate, I also take a foldable wagon to transport my stuff from the parking lot to the lake. We have just started draft training and I don't have a cart yet but I know it would all fit in the back no problem.
Oh yes Abbey and just step into the car if the front passenger seat is pulled forward and then step onto the seat.
Good Luck in your car hunt
PS. If you use a ramp take it with you. Lots of the smaller SUV's have a funny type of bumper that buts the ramp at a really steep angle.

We honestly looked at the Odyssey. Boyfriend was like, "When we get that Landseer..." and talked about camping in the van. He's either completely Newfed or he's gone insane.

Terrain seats fold down "kind of flat." After reading reviews, I'm sold on the CR-V.

We have a VW Caddy...very low to the ground, especially bought for Katy post TPLO....And I love it, nice to drive and also pulls our water training equipment trailer all over the countryside. Cheap to run too.....It now has a mesh back gate, so it can be left open when the days are warm.....I know it can fit five newfies and a BC cross golden :)

PS no ramp required

Jealous! They don't sell them here in the U.S. The closest we have is the Ford Transit and it's not a VW!
