Newfmobile Cleaning?

What is the best thing that you have found to remove hair from the interior of your Newfmobile?

Lint rollers is what I use, we have leather seats so we mostly use the lint rollers on the mats. Then I usually get some wet paper towels for the crevices between the seats. Also, the occasional detailing is necessary to get all the stuff you missed.

First off, I have a Volvo wagon; I believe that the type of Newfmobile affects how you clean it.

The FIRST thing I do is lay the rear seat flat. I then vacuum the cargo area with the beater brush or business end of my Dyson Animal. This seems to take up Newf hair better than anything that I have found.

I then use one of those lint rollers for areas where the Dyson can't reach.

I have tried both the Furfighter and the " Pledge fabric sweeper for pet hair". I like the Pledge one much better. It did a nice job in the Sienna. It got hair the vacuum missed. Very happy with the product.

I would like to add to the original question. What about fur that is flooger encrusted?
LMAO....I used to work at a limo company so I use their super-duper commercial grade vacuum for the real clean and use a shop vac in between. As for they dried up floggers, I just scrap them off....still leaves a flogger residue...lol, lets see if there are any better ideas out there! I bought one of those scotch brushes for the couch and It didn't work for me maybe they are just meant for a different couch.

Actually I've found a slicker brush will pull it right off of upholstery or headliners. Doesn't matter if it is fluger incrusted or not. :)

A CRATE. If your newf is in a crate hair/floogers will not be as bad. Plus any dog who is in a vehicle needs to be crated or tethered in some way to be kept safe if you are in an accident. Nothing gripes me more than to see a dog bouncing all over the car, being held by the driver or worse yet, in the bed of a pickup. If you have an accident what is to protect them? You have a seat belt, your child has a child seat. What makes you think your dog does not need protection?

BTW this is not directed at the OP, but to everyone!

My Newf rides in the cargo area of my Volvo wagon. Believe it or not, Volvo wagons are designed in such a way that the area around the cargo area is the strongest part of the car. They are designed that way because of the number of Volvo wagons with 3rd row seats in back, with children riding in them.

I'm also on a Volvo board on the Internet and learn neat pieces of trivia like this...:D

Jeannie, he wears a harness and is tethered by a leash in an "O" ring. But, his head can still reach the the tops and sides of the front seats, hence flooger encrusting!

Would you let your kids ride in the rear without being in a car seat or strapped in? Maybe it is safe from damage but what is to stop them dog from being projected through the window or thrown out? Or worse yet, if you are seriously hurt and the dogs won't let the EMTs near you? What do you think would happen to your dog? What if your dog is thrown out and get lost or run over by another vehicle? Lots of things could happen.

What about covering the seats with a seat cover that you can wash. You would only have to use them when you take the dog somewhere.

Just to say, I am not pointing fingers. I just cannot see hauling a dog and not have a crate of some sort of restraint for safety.

All of mine are harnessed in with an O ring as well, the seats I cover with seat covers backwards, meaning I put them on so they are on the back part of the seat that is facing up when folded down for the dogs. Nothing you can do to protect the headliner though, so that's what I use the slicker brush on.

Dogs are harnessed here also, and we use a moving mat to cover the seats but hair and floggers still gets everywhere....our pups travel everyday back and fourth to work with us, we have given MUCH thought about accidents, so we have programmed info in our phones...ICE (in case of emergency) it has all info ie vet/emergency vet info and parents and 2 family members also has info they have instructions in case of an accident....I also have all info in glovebox too. When I purchased my Pilot, I also looked into the airbag situation and we have curtain airbags so nobody will be going out of any windows. I think I have all bases covered unless I missed something or someone has other thoughts for more precautions???

When you guys say you use harnesses and O rings ... What does the harness attach to? I'm envisioning it somehow to the seatbelt???

blaue,

I wrap the handle of the leash on the "O" Ring in the back of the car, leaving the clasp available. The "O" rings are built into the back of the car. He wears a harness that has a ring on his back. So, if (God forbid) there was an accident it would not pull on his neck. I clip the clasp on his harness. He remains stable, but also can move some.

You can get harnesses for use with seat belt buckles. However, in my case, one of the back seats is flipped to the side and the other back seat has been removed, so he has more room.

HTH,
