New Puppy

Hi all,
I have been researching newfies for quite some time and we finally took the plunge today...and got a newfie mix. Her daddy was a newfie and her momma was a golden retriever. If mixes aren't allowed so sorry, she is the most newfie-looking of the litter.

We haven't picked out a name yet but just had to share her while she's eating her dinner. She's 9 weeks old and is such a sweetie.

Hey, she loks adorable and as long as she's a good pup and good for you and the family, it doesn't matter. My boy is from a shelter and who knows if he's a mix or not, i never will know, but he'll always be my newfie boy.. he's got the huge heart..

I finally got her to go to sleep, she didn't like the crate much. I want to name her Koda but we will see what the hubby thinks (he's still at work).

Welcome and congratulations! She's very cute! I know that Goldens and Newfs can be very similar in some ways....especially in the water department!! And, the combination of the sweet Newf temperament and the sunny Golden personality should be a winner!

Because I love both breeds, I do hope this was an "oops" litter and the breeder isn't combining the two on purpose. They're both wonderful dogs, don't get me wrong....but they each have their own reason for existence, and keeping the breeds separate and distinct is important for the future of each breed.

Oh...and do know that they share many of the same genetic problems, so do get her checked over as she grows for things like Hip Dysplasia, Elbow Dysplasia, Heart issues, Eye issues, Patella problems, and Thyroid problems. Being a "hybrid" or a "mix" doesn't mean she can't have these genetic problems. Hopefully she won't....and she'll live a long, happy, healthy life with you!!

I'm happy you're sharing her with us......and I know you're excited and thrilled to have the little sweetie....so please, keep sharing. We love to hear the stories....and will be looking forward to more pictures!

Welcome to Newf Net! I say, if they have a heart of a Newf...it's a Newf!

I have both Golden and a Newf...they are both wonderful breeds (but for different reasons) so you got a wonderful mixture there!

Please post more pics as she grows! Give her hugs for us!

I think with that little bow in her hair she kind of looks like a Greta...just my first thought. :)

My first dog was a newf-golden mix and more wonderful dog would have been hard to find. He suffered from many health problems, but it never kept him down.

Congrats! She's gorgeous and I'm sure she'll be wonderful.

HI!

We think Tug has Newf somewhere in his blood, but it's open to anyone's guess! The fabulous NN'ers have been irreplacable for information and opinions; a GAWD send!

She's adorable!!!! She looks just like HE did as a baby!

More pictures please!

She's a dream! And BOY does she look ever so precious with her bow! You'll probably wind up with as many bows as I have for Kali - (Which is alot!) They just look so adorable with them in their hair! And what girl DOESN"T like to have girly feminine accents? God Bless! Koda sounds like a beautiful name!
