Both Duncan and Kylie are on the same diet...Duncan seems to be having trouble with it...he is very thin..13 months and 95 lbs...and has developed hot spots....I feed ground Chicken thighs, sweet potatoes, bok chok,..I add Kelp, vitC, vit E, fish oil, and synflex they also get some canned mackeral....and then Frozen fresh BilJac...We have stopped the BilJac with duncan to see if that whats causing the hot spots...I am worried that I am not doing something right and would love some help.

I feed Dudley raw, from the Billingshurst book.
Am - 2 whole chicken necks and backs

Pm. Raw lean ground beef, juiced bok choy and carrots/rutabago.
Adding either cooked liver, raw heart or hardboiled eggs, or canned tuna.
Additives, Vit C and E. Codliver Oil cap. Flaxseed oil caps 2, Kelp and Alfalfa, and a tbsp. Apple cider vinegar.

I don't know what Biljac is so can't comment on that.

My Lab was allergic to the chicken so had to be put back on kibble.

I feed raw to Samantha because of her allergies. She cannot eat kelp, so that may be your problem. It gives her hot spots like crazy.

Another thing I have always been told is you cannot feed a pup raw. It will stunt their growth. You can feed the raw but add kibble to it until they are 18 months old.

thank you all...Pam gave me some good info about Wendy Volhard's program she follows the Levy diet..they have dried stuff that you can add to the raw and sounds like it might help..so i am giving it a try...will let you know ;)

I feed the Volhard diet, also. I have found that Lucy can't eat beef, or wheat, more than once or twice a week, or she gets "diaper rash". She does fine on chicken.

I have heard that some dogs are allergic to certain meats, and you may have to find another protein souce (lamb, buffalo, etc). I haven't found a cheap source for those meats, but maybe something else that is locally available for you, would work.

I have fed my newf raw since the day we brought him home at 9 weeks. I started with Volhard but he did not do well on all the grains. So, he went to a meat based diet, no grains, green veggies. If it stunted his growth, I would hate to see what he would have looked like
. He's 23 months, 33 inches, 152 pounds. He's giganitic!

One thing to try, drop everything and feed just beef (or chicken or whatever). Watch for 2 weeks and add something else. Keep doing that until you find out what it is. I have heard of kelp and alfalfa sensitivity as being common.

Bil Jac also has supplements in it, doesn't it? He may be getting too many. Good that you stopped that.

Good luck.
