My old gal Hannah could use some good thoughts....

She started limping/hopping back in early Novemeber last year. Vet visit and radiographs showed she had developed bilateral hip dysplasia and severe spondylosis in her neck and spine.
Since then she has been managed with Polyglycan and Rimadyl. She was doing fairly well and getting around until this past week.
It's like someone flipped a switch. Her medication doesn't seem to be effective anymore and she's just creaking around. :(
She can't squat to do her business anymore...She just kind of tucks her butt under a little and lets it go. This morning she managed to pee and poop herself. I cleaned her up and clipped her down. So now she has a monkey butt and is missing her "pants" to add to her troubles.
Going to take her in tomorrow for a consult to see if we can get her under control again.
She will be 12 on July 9th. I am afraid this will be her last summer if she makes it that far.
She is still eating okay, but I can tell she is now in pain.

It is hard to see them get older. I've noticed Chase starting to slow down some. I remember when Chase and Hannah were puppies.

Getting old is the pits. Evan, similar to Hannah. He is on Metacam 1/2 tab daily, duralactin twice a day and cartrophen injections every 3 weeks. Hope the vet can help her.
I know exactly how you feel. :(

Oh I hope some new medication can help with the pain...My Jake who is only 6 has spondylosis of the spine...he is on meloxicam and Tramadol when needed...he has done wonderful on those and only needs one pill per day...I know how hard it is when they get old...my Dex was 13 when he passed...we still miss his soul every single day...

I hate this getting old stuff, for our dogs and us. Lol. I'm sorry Hannah is feeling well. My Chance had spondylosis in his neck. We used Mataram and Tramadol also. We also went for acupuncture, which helped. There's also cold laser therapy now, might be worth trying.

You have my prayers, love & strength for both of you! It is hard, I've noticed as of late that Zeke is just a little off these days,

Just wanted to say that Hannah is on a new medication/supplement routine and is doing better. It's been warm and dry the last few days and I'm sure that helps too.
So for now she is getting around okay. She is sleeping through the night again too...no more waking me at 3 AM to go out.

That's good news, what medication did the vet put her on? Hope she continues to feel better.

She is on Tramadol up to six a day (two pills X 3times a day if needed). So far the most I've had to give her is four. She is also still getting the Polyglycan injections about every three weeks.

Sending good thoughts that she continues to feel better. It's so sad to watch them as they age. Give her lots of hugs and kisses with her pills.

Just wanted to update that Hannah is still doing okay. A lot of her stiffness seems to be weather related these days. Wet, cooler days cause her to hop and drier sunny days don't.
She's never been big on being outside but seems to enjoy laying out in the sun more these days. I just adjust her medication accordingly.
She still wakes most every morning around 2:30-3:00 and asks to go out but I've adjusted to that too.
Overall the old gal is holding her own and she's still the boss of them.
