Yesterday Maggie and I went for a walk-our first "big" walk in 19 months. (ankle surgery caused by someone digging holes :shuffle: ) Anyway, when we got to the park, it was crawling with little kids playing soccer. There was a tournament going on, and I honestly thought about going home. She's a first class puller, and while we had it under control before, walks were pretty much non-existant as I could barely walk during those 19 months.
She was WONDERFUL! There was no lunging towards the kids, or the balls at all! She watched them, and wagged her tail, but didn't try to run on the field, chase anyone, or steal a ball or two. One family stopped to pet her, and she was calm, and said hi to everyone. One little girl was allergic to dogs, and stood to the side, and when Maggie leaned towards her, I told her to leave her, and she did! She even left the Goose poop alone-there was no trying to eat it on the run.
When we were ready to leave, she got in the truck with no hassle. We've had a few ( a lot ) incidents where she decides she doesn't want to leave, and will flop on the ground doing her best flailing-alligator impression. We've had 45 minute parking lot breaks where she's done this.
I'm a proud Mama.
