Moving to Pennsylvania!

Hi, everyone! We haven't been on NewfNet for a while, but think of all of you often and try to check in when we can. We're getting ready to move from Colorado to Bethlehem, Pennsylvania! Anyone in the area? Bo will be looking for some play buddies in August :groovy:

Chumley and I are about an hour and a half south. We love hikes and get togethers. Perhaps you and Bo can come to the Ocean City, Md. get together over Halloween weekend? If you get the chance, you should take Bo to Knoebel's Amusement Park. It's pet-friendly and nestled amongst the forest trees for lots of shade.

You should check out the the Penn-Ohio Newfoundland Club (PONC) web site. They do a lot of activities. If Tiika is jumping off a boat by August, we'll be going to the PONC 's 25th Anniversary Water tests in Pymatuning Park. along with a lot of other Newf people. Even if you aren't ready to enter, spectators are welcome and PONC has wonderful Newf people and Newfs!

Great! Hope we'll see you there, Joan.

Stacy, I've been wanting to get to the Ocean City get together for what seems like a long time now. Maybe this will finally be our year to get there!

Sad you're leaving! Hook up with NewPenDel and PenOhio Newf clubs. You will find out east everything is much closer to get to:) You can clear 6 states in the time it takes to drive through Colorado:)

O.k. If those in Jersey are just an hour and a half, then I'm probably guessing about 45 min. Maybe it's between 45 min. and an hour and a half.:icon_stupid:

My SIL lives in Nazareth, it's about an hour from us! Maybe we'll be able to do playdates when the puppy comes home! Yay Northeast Newfies!

Congrats on the move! My girlfriend and I just moved from Pittsburgh, PA to Denver, CO last May. PA might not have the huge mountains of CO, but it is still a beautiful state. And as was mentioned before, you will be a short drive away from a lot of cool places. Enjoy!

It seems like everyone moves from the East Coast to Colorado, or vice versa!! :roflmao:

Congrats on the move, I'm in Delaware and have no clue as to how far you would be, but yay!

The get-together in OC is loads of fun!

NOT wanting to offend anyone in PA, but why move from Beautiful CO?
As beautiful as CO is, there are a lot of things that are better in PA (in my opinion). Housing market is WAY better; income, property, and sales taxes are lower; vehicle registration is much lower; etc. Combine that with the shifting political climate in CO, and I can't blame anyone for leaving.

As much as we love the area, my girlfriend and I have decided that our move here will not be long term.

Sounds like we will be in good company in PA :) We just bought a house yesterday (!); Mike got a job at Lehigh University (hence the move). We'll look for get togethers once we get settled in. Can't wait!

Congrats on the house! Bethlehem is (according to googlemaps) 65 miles from me! I'd love to see Bo again!!

I loved living in Colorado and miss many things. And while I don't love living in Jersey yet (I'm working on it!), I do love some things here. One is the trees! And the green things that grow everywhere!! Pennsylvania is beautiful. I hope you end up loving it there. And I hope your move goes great!!

I moved from Virginia to Utah and would move back east in a heartbeat! It's been 4 years and I still long for the coast! I guess once a place is in your heart it is hard to see the positive in other places. I hope you love your new home and state! Pa is a beautiful state with the rolling hills etc...but you may miss those majestic mountains in the west! Good luck!

Thanks, all! In the few days we were visiting, I think we got more rain than CO sees all summer. It was seriously glorious! Of course, ask me a year from now and I'll be complaining about how overcast it is all the time :D
