More storms coming...

It is clouding up and there are more storms coming our way tonight.

We are loading up some lumber that was not damaged in our big barn and taking it to town to help secure the house of a friend. Their roof was damaged and their insurance is not going to cover it.

Gotta go!

Oh my gosh! My nerves are all going for you now, I'm saying a prayer, right now. Know that there are so many here praying for you during this storm.

Stay safe, but I don't understand how if they have insurance, they aren't covered for roof damage. Isn't that pretty standard in all policies?

Was just looking at the radar and thinking about you and Julie. It's clouding up here but we're not under a watch.

Hang on to your hats and stay safe. Whoever says lightening doesn't strike twice in the same place never lived in this part of the country!

Jacques son had a neighbor's tree uprooted in the storms this past weekend. It fell on part of his house, destroyed the deck, and made a $35K mess overall.

He "thought" the neighbors insurance company would pay....nope. Only if it was a dead tree, or overhanging branch that he had "warned" the neighbors about in writing, and it wasn't taken care of. This was a healthy tree.....but the roots just couldn't hold on through the wind and water.

Also...he's responsible for $10K of the damage. The insurance policies all have a co-pay now. It's dependent upon the value of the house/buildings and the percentage of "co-pay" your policy has.

All of this has been revised since Katrina. Insurance companies are protecting themselves......from the huge payouts. So....it might be best to check yours.

Hope you stay safe through all this Robyn. You've had enough for a long time.

Oh no! There's a funnel cloud west of Robyn. It's a bit north but these darn things can turn or more can crop up.

They are under a tornado watch until 11:00 tonight, so everyone, pray they don't get slammed again!!!

Robyn is in Monett, MO which is about halfway between Joplin and Springfield, MO and just south. This area frequently gets thunderstorms and it seems like tornados are becoming more frequent too. The funnel cloud was spotted just west of Joplin, MO. Haven't heard any more so maybe it went back up again. Looks like the storms are farther north now and headed in a ENE direction.

I'm watching it, too, as I'm sure a lot of us are. Those storms are heading towards a lot of us. Stay safe, Robyn.

All storms went north of us last night. We got some rain, but that was it....thankfully!

I hope that others in the path of the storm are ok and made it through safely.

As for the insurance issues.....The friends of ours said that their agent told them that they have fire insurance but not wind or tornado damage. So, none of the damage on their house is covered.

Our insurance adjuster was out yesterday and he was a bit detached to the whole thing. I had a minor melt down. They were only going to cover the shop itself, but no contents. (since it isn't attached to our house) I had a *speaking in the devil's voice, head spinning episode* and he allowed that since the shop is so close to our house (5-6 feet away) that the contents would be covered......except for my antique Karmann Ghia (1968)

Legalized extortion is about all these insurance companies amount to.

Robyn, I had various damage from natural things in my old house and insurance always had a reason why they wouldn't cover it. I agree with your last statement!!
