I'm finally feeling calm enough about to chat about Myra. I'm now fully gray and feel like I've aged about 10 yrs in the past few weeks. I want to say thanks to those that have helped me from the brink, I really appreciate it.
Probably about a month ago Myra got scared and ran into the kitchen and took a pretty good fall, about a week or so later she could not get up and walk. Vet came out and on his exam, he felt that she might have DM (Degenerative Mylopathy) I politely disagreed, he prescribed Tramadol & Prednisone and said if she has no reaction to the prednisone then more than likely she does have DM. I ordered a DNA test kit from OFA and mailed it off, still awaiting results. Well, 2/3 days later she's running in the yard, like she hasn't in 3 years. I called him and he was expecting a bad report and was delighfully surprised, so we started to lower the doses of prednisone, currently we are at 1/2 a pill a day. When he was at the house he mentioned a local PT rehab and I emailed them this morning in regards to an evaluation. Hopefully within the next week I will have more to go on but at least now I feel I can breathe.
