Lucy has a kidney infection

Hey everyone so Lucy had to go to the vet today. She is 15 weeks old and I took her in because for the last few days she has not been eating much and she has been urinating frequently so they did some tests on her and they found out that she has a kidney infection and they said that she a lot of white blood cells floating around in her urine. They are sending her urine off and for while it is getting tested they have given us some antibiotics. Does anyone else have any experience with kidney infections in their puppies or if I am just overly worried about her . Thanks!

Not kidney infections so much, buy my Sophie is plagued by recurring bladder infections.
Just make sure Lucy finishes all her antibiotics...Don't worry so much about her eating as long as she is eating something. Make sure she stays hydrated though.
Add some cranberry caps to her food. This will help with future problems.
Little girl puppies seem to be prone to UTIs because they squat awkwardly and usually really low to the ground and the parts are right there and they can pick up bacteria easily.
She should be showing improvement in a couple of days.
Did she have a temp? What did they give her? Clavamox usually works best for Sophie...

So sorry to hear your girl is sick. Our Lucy used to get vaginitis and recurring urinary tract infections. Don't recall her having a kidney infection. Antibiotics work fairly quickly to help them feel better.

Keep the fur trimmed particularly short around her vulva, to help avoid picking up germs. You can even go so far as to use those sensitive skin baby wipes around the area after she potties, as a further precaution, to help avoid future infections.

My Sophie was prone to UTI's as a puppy...she was/is a real low squatter and would pick them up at the drop of a hat. Cranberry capsules definitely helped her.
