Leg twitching?

I just noticed tonight that when Bo stands still, he can only remain still for about 5 seconds, then his right leg sort of bends slightly at the elbow and twitches. It almost looks like he is hiccuping, but he's not making a sound. His right elbow has arthritis from elbow dysplasia, so it could just be discomfort when standing, but it seemed odd to me that the twitch happens every 5 seconds through his leg and abdomen.

Any ideas? I'll see if I can get a video.

Several Newfs I know, including one of mine, have leg twitches. I always got the impression that it was nothing to worry about and fairly common.

My Aussie mix does this too. I don't know if it's weakness from her hip dysplasia or just a strange muscle movement. It doesn't seem to bother her at all.

Thanks, Jane and Lori. I guess it's probably just because his leg gets uncomfortable if he puts his weight on it for too long. One of our neighbors has a newf and his legs shiver quite often, but I hadn't seen him just have a single twitch/spasm. Bo seems fine otherwise, so I'll just keep an eye on it for now.

Mom and I used to call it the "Newfy Twitch". If you're at a show, keep an eye out... once one Newf's leg starts to twitch, the rest will soon follow. Tis truly a sight to see!

Elvis has a twitchy front leg, but it's only when he's sitting. Since I know it's "normal" I don't really pay attention to it, but I'll have to start watching to see if it's always the same leg or not.

So it sounds like he probably is just sore in the elbow and putting pressure on it makes him bow his leg. But I tried to get a video anyway - it's not very good. SOMEBODY wasn't cooperating.

His leg does the turning out twitch at the 00:02 to 00:03 second mark.
