Is this a newf thing?

When Ada is really happy with our scritching, she will flop down on her head and leave her butt in the air. (We call it a butt inversion...) Is this a newf thing? She looks totally ridiculous, and there've been times she's done it in a corner and can't get her butt to lay down.

Here's a video, so you can see what I'm talking about:

Yep, we call that the Newfie roll. ALL of them do it except our senior, Chance. They do it when playing with other dogs too. And when they don't want to walk anymore, but that goes along with totally rolling on their backs and kicking their feet in the air. LOL

Elvis doesn't, but the lab puppy we took care of last month did it ALL THE TIME. It was adorable, and sometimes she'd stay in that position for quite a long time.

Moby does the 'drop & roll' when his brain is full at obedience training. When it's 4 paws in the air we know he is finished for the night

She's so cute!! Stella does it, sometimes so quickly I'm worried she's going to hurt herself! Chewie doesn't, but will turn around and back into you when he wants butt scritchies (which is often).

Helium Butt

Our monster does it too... Especially when he's about to relax. He'll lower his front half, leaving his butt in the air for a good 10 seconds or so before it plops down. We call it helium butt.

Bailey has always done that along with honking like a goose, with his age he will still put his head down and rub on your leg but he can't get lay down like he use too.

I told my husband about the helium butt comment, and he loves it...so I guess we've adopted the name.

It's still funny to watch. :D

Must be...Anya does that. And, everytime I want to give Anya a big kiss on her head, she presents me with her butt. Hmmmm, wonder what that is about....
