Newfoundland Dog
Adult, Male
Magick, is a beautiful AKC registered, adult male Newfoundland. He is 7 years old this March, and has lived with our family since he was a puppy. While, he is a very good dog, and also beyond loved, in our home the time has come, we can't keep him any more. Magick's special needs have run our family for the past few years, and it's just not anything we can cope with anymore. This is a lot to explain, but I want to try to make his story as clear as possible: When we started out, our, Magick came into a happy financially stable home. Over the past seven years, in this difficult economy our family and our life situation have suffered greatly. So, that being said, Magick’s special needs: he has severe separation anxiety. We tried and tried for the first few years to train him out of it, but to no avail. It never posed a very big problem for us, because he seemed to do o.k. within the fenced –in-yard for short periods, like grocery shopping, errands and things like that. The times where he was left home alone, were disastrous, he jumped through a huge glass window once, shattering it to pieces. He has completely destroyed the house countless times, defecated not only all over the house, but somehow gets it all the way up the walls, by apparently jumping in it. Once when kenneled at a dog kennel for just one day, broke the fence, and made his nose bleed. Magick has never really had to stay away from us for too long, because I have always been a stay at home mom, and able to be with him most of the time (except for groceries, and errands) Now, we live in a place where we have no yard, and the only options we have are : A. get the house completely trashed, or … B. someone ALWAYS has to be home with Magick. We have actually lived this way for the past 4 years, no vacations, ever, and we can’t ever go to a no dogs allowed place as a family cause one of us always has to stay with him. We tried, and tried to stick it out, but it can’t go on like this. We consider him to be part of the family, and can’t bear letting him go. But we are suffering, and he is suffering. This is not the ideal life for him anymore. As long as he is not left alone for more than a few minutes, he will never ever mess the house, or misbehave. Magick is well trained, intelligent and such an amazing dog. He walks everywhere off-leash and sticks to your side like glue, he has six children, and a cat, and is so patient and loving with everyone. Magick is a big drooler, only barks when necessary, LOVES LOVES sticks, and playing fetch with sticks. He is allergic to oats, has some minor skin problems, nothing serious though, and has always eaten Nutro, dog food. He has never had health or joint problems at all. Magick has been a really healthy and very happy dog, who still acts like a puppy. He needs a family that has a fenced-in yard. He will make an amazing and loyal dog for you.
