So in the same week I'm posting questions about how to keep Gracie from smashing my flower border (seen partially in background) I was also searching for a Golden to rescue. Our family, including Miss Gracie, has been missing our beloved 14-year-old mutt who passed in December. We thought rescuing another dog would be a nice way to honor her memory.
Enter TJ (named for Steve's Jeep type), an eight-month-old purebred pup we nabbed Thursday night at the humane society. He's a dream. We expected crazy puppy behavior but he's already housetrained and house trustworthy sans crate. We're a little shocked by this, but enjoy the spectacle of sharing our couch, bed and hearts with these two. Gracie is thrilled and considers it her primary duty to keep TJ's ears well moistened.
I must say we were inspired by the many photos we've seen on Newf Net of Newfs at events with their Golden siblings. It seems like a wonderful match temperment wise, which was our hope.
