Inherited Leonberger Polyneuropathy (ILP)

This is an interesting subject that was brought to my attention by a fellow SCNC Member who's Newf was diagnosed with LP about a month ago. He went through the tie back surgery just last week. Today her Vet has suggested that her Newf more than likely has what is being called ILP, and given the relationship of Newfs and Leo's I'm wondering if more of our Newfs have this and its being misdiagnosed. Her vet is going to contact U of Minn and ask if he can send in a blood sample to be a part of the study even though he's not a Leo.

At the bottom of this link is a link to the study being done in Minnesota.

Ok don't mean to be dumb but what does LP and ILP stand for ?? :)
LP is Laryngeal Paralysis and ILP is Inherited Leonberger Polyneuropathy. I haven't read much about ILP but what I did just scan over, it looks a lot like the two are very similar. Chance had LP and many of the symptoms listed for ILP.
