If It's Not A UTI.....

This morning Maggie woke me up, pacing and panting. She ran to the door, and while she was outside, she peed like 3-5 times. At least she squatted that often. I let her out again before I left, and just talked to my daughter who said she hasn't even acted like she needs to go out, and is snoring away on the floor. She didn't have any accidents in the house.

She has a Dr's appointment at 5:30, but wouldn't she be acting the same this afternoon as she was this morning?

Don't know, Tigger is a triple threat. She pees three times in three different locations 99.9% of the time.

They got a urine sample last night, and it was dark, so they think she does have one.

They also suggested a dental cleaning, which I would like to avoid because of the anesthesia. Would raw bones help with cleaning her teeth?

We've been in a UTI study for over a year, and our vet is beginning to think Moonlight's chronic UTIs may come from pollen allergies. She's been absolutely fine since late last summer and now she's suddenly having problems.

I was thinking of you and Maggie today (was gonna pm you!) but I'm curious as to how things are going? Did you get to talk to your regular vet yet? And get any answers?

UTIs usually are caused by eColi. The only connection I can imagine with an allergy, Nina, would be a suppression of the immune system. My repro vet recommends that the dogs be kept on a quality, broad spectrum probiotic...

I did. I love my regular vet-she totally knows I'm prone to overreacting, and can calm me down.

I have to take another sample in, she definitely had a UTI AND she has Lyme. :darn: She only showed symptoms the one day for her UTI though, so I'm hoping her anti-biotics knocked it out.

For her teeth, it's knuckle bones, right?

We give ours turkey necks a couple times a week to keep their teeth good and add other chicken pieces periodically. We get the turkey necks from a local pet store that stocks them.
