How Stanley looks up to Jorge

Love them! They are so adorable together! I noticed how Riggs likes to sit ON or touching Bojie, especially when we're out in public:) Love how you captured the two of them together from baby puppy bear and up!

"Alright kid. You stick with me, and I'll show you how it's done. First lesson - bitey face snout wars. What you do is...you make THIS face. It's totally fierce, and will strike fear into the hearts of your enemies."

"Like this?"

"Yeah, that's not bad, that's not bad. Try and give it more 'grrrrrr' though."

"Grrrrrr! Like that?"

"Yeah, you're getting there...you're getting there. Just, you know, really put your TEETH into it."

"How's that?"

"Holy COW kid, your teeth are like little needles of doom!"

"Is that good?"

"Not if you're ME! Let's take a break, and play with a stick instead. Do you know how to play with a stick?"

"No?"

"Right. This is how it's done."

And one of my favorite pictures of my two bears - Nanook warming his nose in Pooka's fuzz...

Having (at least) two Newfs is the BEST.

omg ... I have to get another Newf. If Orka says that's what he wants. Driven over the edge.

Always thought not having a playmate was cruel. But vacillate several times a day.

The thing is I've watched Orka every single day in dog parks with other dogs and no other dog plays like a Newfie! Period. No other dog has all these moves and combos and sounds and temperament.

Nessa your pix & dialogue are so perfect. Gotta have another!

OK so what age is best for the older to get a puppy? 1 year? 2 years?

At what age does a Newf become gumpy and no longer want to play?

I am TRYING to continue to live vicariously through those of you with multiple Newfs.... but you make it soooooo hard! I must keep repeating to myself.. 2 dogs, 3 cats, too many vet bills .. 2 dogs, 3 cats, too many vet bills! :)

Nanook was 14 months and one week old when Pooka came home to live with us. He and Pooka's birthdays are one year, and 5 days, apart. And Nanook was THRILLED to have a playmate, but old enough to have been through a LOT of obedience training, which helped us keep playtime between them safe.

(Lots of "DOWN, Nanook!")

Lynn & I already decided we're going to England some day to meet Carla Jorge & Stanley. Orka flies free up with me as my service dog so it isn't that difficult. Just gotta earn the money!

Was re-reading Judi Adler's puppy book again and she says after 1 year.

All that's left is finding out exactly what Orka really wants. We sent a check to the famous animal communicator long ago but haven't called for a reading yet because I haven't cleaned everything as thoroughly as I want, no tattling about those kitten messes everywhere (they even shredded the tassles off the curtains!).

If Orka says he wants a pup living in the house with him it will be all systems go and then the difficult task of finding a good breeder with healthy pups. I always have feelers out for this and it's not easy in this neck of the woods. Although judging by all the litter pix on Facebook there's no shortage of puppies being born!

Orka is so good with puppies, very gentle and considerate. His obedience training is going very well now that he finally is not protesting against command training! After 3 of the same command in a row though he voices distinct objection.

Carla, I have always adored your two, and these photos just made me love them all the more. Not only are the gorgeous, they are so stinkin' cute, too.

That being said, I'm head over heals for Boj and Rigs, too. Then there are Nooks and Pooks, and Annabelle and Toby....oh, heck, I love them all.

There's something about Jorge and Stanley Cook. Thanks for sharing.

Leska, I'll bet Orka would love a little brother or sister and we'd sure love the pics!!!

Of course getting a playmate depends on the personality of the Newf in question, the already established one of the household. With Orka I have heard all the wise arguments against getting another dog, especially since Orka is my service dog.

BUT Orka cannot stand to go for more than a day without playing with another dog/s. He goes nuts with longing. He loves to play more than any other thing in the world. We have arranged our entire life to try to be sure he gets the opportunity, but getting a suitable playmate by chance is more and more difficult. Many dogs are intimidated by his sheer size even though he is so loving and gentle and such a playbunny.

SSSsssooo frustrating. There's a family in our Newf Club that actually drive their son to the school across the street 4 days a week -- they have 5 Newfs -- 2 older puppies -- and they don't ever bring one of them over for a playdate. Even though they drive literally to my gate 4 days a week!

I could solve the playmate problem once and for all by getting a great male Newfie puppy. It would actually simplify our life. No more desperately seeking dog parks. These pictures say more than 100000000s of words.

You will both be very welcome!! ;) xxx
You could start looking for the pup soon then!! ;) You are right no other dog plays like a newf and I think they read each others mind really well!! They understand each other and are so connected! I used to always want a newf brother for Jorge as it made me sad when he play bowed with other dogs but they would chicken out and not play with him once he was fully grown! It was magical watching Jorge and Stanley have a great play for the first time!!:)

Oh yeah *that* thread and videos etc does me in.

January 20th, big dog show here, Rose City, will go hound the Newf world *again* for breeder info, has to be more fruitful than last year. Will bring Orka, who is getting more gorgeous by the day (and exotic, LOL).

Carla that connection you talk about is what I seek. It is so visible in your pix! And the other Newf fams too.

I tried, I tried, every day for almost 10 months now, and I cannot find a good enough solution. And will clean house like a dervish so we can get the animal communicator reading on Orka next Wednesday and find out exactly what he thinks and feels about having a puppy / lifelong Newf companion.
