Hints for a "sanitary" trim?

I need to trim up Sophie's rear so she doesn't drip quite so much, though I love her poofy pants. Anybody have any hints for doing this aesthetically?

I always trim Beau round this area as he is a stinky butt newf definetly. I trim close to the anus and then graduate it out and then use thinning scissors to get a more curved look. I'm no expert but it doesn't look too bad and even if I make a bad cut it wil grow back

I just hack away and be dammed with how it looks at this point.

He has so many bald spots from being shaved he looks a bit like Frankenstein anyway. :groovy:

I realize this is in no way helpful.:kgo_017:

I'm at that point with Ebony. Between her incontinence and occassional diarrhea from chemo she kinda has a bald butt. :icon_redface:
I took a small trimmer and started near her anus and worked my way out until I had a decent amount cleared. When her tail is down you don't see it and you can spare some of the feathers if you just take it slowly and don't get hack happy. ;)

Au contraire, it gives me courage to start snipping! I think I'm just a nervous Nellie, and I always feel like I have the little Grooming Police gremlin sitting on my shoulder saying :nono:. I thought I'd better make sure there wasn't a -- well, I was going to say a trail blazed, but that's the problem to start with.:coffeedrink:
