Charlie is a grain-free only kind of guy, he had bad gas, soft poop, and skin infections on his old food. I changed his to grain free, and voila, firm almost smell-free poop, little to no gas, and clear skin!!

I hope it does the trick for you as well!

That's good news! Lucy is allergic to almost everything, but is doing very well on Natural Balance Sweet Potato and Fish (salmon). (It's the tidbits she has begged off of unknowing visitors, that caused her ears to flare up again.)

well thats good news and in the us you seem to have a lot of choice on grain free foods, very differnt story in the uk. Two of mine have been on grain free for a couple of days now and I've noticed the difference with Merlins poop (solid,no stink), Beau seems to be taking a little longer but there has been a difference. To be safe I also cut out chicken and fish to make sure it wasn't a reaction to these and in a couple of weeks if they are still ok I can reintroduce some stuff back and see if we still have a problem

why 'ugh' ? the expense?

You will be feeding a lot less because he's getting more cals per cup AND he's not losing a lot of nutrition in the runs.

We feed orijen because of the runs from grain food. But my newfies only need one cup twice a day. That is more than ample.
