Had a great vacation

We went to a resort called Ace Adventure Resort. Had a great time and plan to go back next year. They had white water rafting but I don't swim.

First we rode ATVs and even rode the advanced trail!!

Then we walked the New River Gorge Bridge. There is a cat walk under the bridge. It was an awesome experience.
This is the bridge

This is the first half of the cat walk

In the middle looking down 851 feet

Then we went Zip Lining

Then rode mountain bikes for 8 1/2 miles

That's because you were in WV, which is pretty much the best state ever. I'm glad you had such a fun time!

The New River Gorge Bridge is the world's second longest single arch bridge. October 19th is Bridge Day (it's always the third Saturday of October) and it's really something to see. They let people base jump off the bridge. It's terrifying but really amazing to watch.

......and now I'm homesick.

did you run the run? my daughter did and I wondered if you two would have accidentally met. She said she came in first in her age group...then told me she was the ONLY one in her age group.

We left on Thursday. If we had known about it we would have arranged things so we could have stayed. We had to pick up Adam and Chase on Friday so we couldn't extend our vacation. We found out about it when we got there. Maybe next year!!

Did your daughter run the 5, 8 or 13.1 mile course?

They told us about bridge day. The guide said if you were to jump off the bridge it would take 8 seconds to hit the ground. She did say the record for the highest bungee jump is off that bridge. It sounds like that is the place to be. They even close the bridge to traffic. I'll say again the cat walk was awesome!!

I think she ran the 13. That seems be be a pretty comfortable run for her. The Distance Run in Charleston is this weekend. It's 15 miles and it's supposed to be 95 degrees! hopefully they'll start very early.

I've been across that bridge - hold my breath the whole way - every time. Looks like you had a great vacation. Love West Virginia, but the Greenbrier is more my speed. Unfortunately I lost my adventure spirit about 20 years ago.

Way cool, my kind of vacation! We just did white water rafting down the Shenandoah River floating past Harpers Ferry where the Potomac dumps into the Shenandoah. My 13 yr. old niece got tossed out the raft and got caught in one of those circle currents underneath our raft which was stuck in that spot due to the current. Luckily, the guide who was tossed as well got her out. I'll never forget her look of terror when she popped up...and she's on the swim team! I remember an expansion bridge that looked like that somewhere after Harper's Ferry, but that picture looked so much larger or maybe it seemed that way from the water.
Actually, the best vacation would include our dogs. Although in your case, you would need a break from dogs.
