Mt. Bear's Harbour Grace April 24/03 - May 28/11

Gracie was my wild child, racing exuberantly through life. As devastating as this was at the time, I am really at peace with it. Gracie was 8. She was about to start that downhill slide into old age. That just would not have been her thing.

And while I'm at it & because I haven't been able to do it before, my once in a lifetime "Mr. ShowDog".
BIS Am. Can. CH Council Cup's Volare Oct. 26/00 - Oct. 29/10.

I am so sorry to hear about both your losses. You are in my prayers.

It moves me especially because my Emma is 7 -1/2, and I see some signs of old age already and it worries me.

Oh Marlis, I'm so sorry. Did you know she had died while we were in Gananoque? So sad to go home and not have her waiting for you.:(

Yes Joan, I did. Got a call from the kennel at 4 pm saying she had been fine that morning. Very sudden collapse. She was taken to the emergency clinic by my friend. Had a tumour on her spleen which was bleeding into her abdomen. Spoke with an excellent vet who felt the prognosis was not good & so I let her go. As I said, she was never meant to be an old lady dog.

My dearest Marlis,
The family and I were stunned and heartbroken to hear of Gracie's passing. She has always been one of my kids' favorite dogs of all time. She had such personality, she was truly one-of-a-kind. I'll never forget how she ate everything, from remotes to cordless phones to frozen spicy sausages sitting in the sink! If ever a girl had spunk, she was it. You are so right, slowing down would not have been her thing. As I type this I have no doubt she is surfing the counters, sinks, stovetops of the Almighty. Sending you hugs and lots of love, my friend.
