Good Conditioner?

I just got my K9III today and it runs much hotter than I expected. I was using a less powerful blower that was barely warm.
Bailey has environmental allergies and I bathe him at least once a week. I love the power of the K9, but worry it will dry his skin out causing even more itching.
I was thinking maybe a decent conditioner would prevent that. He's allergic to oatmeal so those products don't help.

Your dryer does not have a heating element, but does blow the warm air from the motor. It should not dry Bailey's skin. It actually helps a dog with skin conditions or allergies as it will dry the dog down to the skin. A good alternative to oatmeal based shampoos and conditioners are products with tea tree oil and aloe. Earth Bath has a great product line of shampoos and conditioners...

I know it's going to make get easier to keep the outside allergens off him that's for sure! LOL! Thanks for the suggestions. I already use a tea tree oil spray for his itching so that is a good idea.

I have been using Mane & Tail during swimming Season. We would Bathe Ethel and dilute the conditioner in a spray bottle. Use the K-III to dry, then while misting blow the conditioner in the coat and leave in. Smeels nice and brushes good.

TropiClean great shampoo use it on hagrid beacause his skin gets really dry from swimming in the ocean every day. Has some soap free formula with soothing aloe medication.

Can you only purchase these if you are a dealer? I went to the site and thought that might be the case. Thanks, Kim

For conditioners, I like to use Biogroom's Silk Conditioner. You can get it from Pet Edge.

You may be worried about the blow drying, drying the skin, but blow drying dogs actually stimulates blood circulation which is a good thing. But it is important to blow dry correctly. When you have the cone nozzle on your blow dryer, hold it far away and slowly move it closer to the fur. The fur spreads apart. As you move in closer, eventually you will get to a point where the fur will start to curl in. At that point, you move back to where it does not curl in anymore and that is the appropriate distance you should be drying the dog from.

I use the cone attachment to get the excess water off and then I take the cone off and do the same thing as above. You can get closer without the cone attachment before the fur starts to curl in. That gets the heat source closer for faster drying. But you should still be at the distance where the fur is not curling in.

A lot of people want to put the nozzle right into the fur and that is not the correct way to blow dry the dog.
