Gage in Eau Claire, WI Shelter

Description says Landseer mix. I wish I could have one more, he's beautiful! I tried calling the shelter to find out more about him, they are closed. Did let rescue know about him, though.

Gage

Hi, my name is Gage, and I am a male Landseer Newfoundland mix. I am 7 years young, and in need of a new home because my previous owner became ill and is no longer able to care for me. I mostly lived as an outside dog, but at the shelter I have been keeping my kennel very clean, waiting until someone takes me outside before going potty. This certainly shows that it may not take much for me to become housebroken, and to turn me into an indoor dog. I love to be with people, and I would very much like to spend my golden years inside with my new loving family. This would be such a dream come true! I am a very loving and happy dog, although sometimes I become a little too happy and I forget that jumping up on humans is a no no. I am very intelligent, and with a bit of positive training I am sure that I would learn to keep my paws on the ground, but for now a home without small children would be best for me. I know sit, and if the treat is super good I also respond to shake. I am polite on leash and I love to go for walks through the woods or around the neighborhood. I do well with other dogs and also with cats. My rabies vaccination certificate will not expire until 4/05/12. If you could find it in your heart to adopt me, I know that you would love me forever. I am such a sweet and mellow boy in need of a patient home that is willing to offer me the love and training needed to become the perfect pet. I am looking forward to meeting you, and I would like to thank you for reading my story!

Boy! If he's a mix, I'll eat my hat (and my shorts and various other pieces of clothing). What a beautiful head and expression!

What a nice boy. I hope someone can help him. :) That is nice of you Garden Girl if you can spring him out.

Haha! I was thinking the same thing! That first pic made me go "A mix? Gah!". He looks a bit smallish, but all Newf to me! With a face like that, someone is bound to scoop him up right away!

Is that a double dew claw in the last photo? Maybe a little Pyr in there? But agree...looks very much all Landseer to me too!

I agree, he may be a Pyr Mix. It appears to be a rear double dew claw. We receive a lot of inquiries especially in the Georgia and Alabama area regarding "Landseer' Newfs that turn out to be a Pyr mix.

Forgive my ignorance...do newfs not have dew claws on the rear legs? My Sam doesn't...I thought it was odd, but

I actually noticed this boy about an hour ago and sent an email to the rescue contact given on the NCA rescue site. If I was closer, he would be coming home with me today, having recently lost my 12 1/2 year old and now have a very lonely 6 year old fellow.

Please don't let that stop you. If you really want him, I'll bet a transport can be set up.

He reminds me of the Newfs you see in the paintings from Sir whats-his-face Landseer.... I swear when I hit the lottery, I'm adopting every Newf and Lab over the age of 5....
