Gabby ate a bee

On Wed. night Gabby's eyes were swollen, Benedryl didn't help. The vet gave a steroid shot & helped the swelling immediately. Then she started with diarrhea, so of course I went to this section of NN & found (somewhere), that this had happened to someone else & their vet said that their dog had EATEN the bee. Guess what, that's exactly what my vet said. WTG NN.
So after 5 days of Flagyl, my vet said that Gabby will be back to her crazy self. Thanks everyone!!!

Here not long ago, Snuffles was laying outside while I was talking to a neighbor snapping at a bumble bee buzzing his head. Sure glad he didn't catch it before I got him out of there.

Penny,
Sorry to hear about that. It may have been my post regarding Zikomo. We got up one morning and her eyes were swollen closed. Vet thought she had either been stung/bit by something or eaten something. Anyways, she's fine now except for the cherry eye that developed while she was overnight at the vets.

We're currently delaying dealing with the cherry eye as it isn't bothering her at all. The plan is to have the vet deal with it when she goes under for neutering/fixing/whatever the proper term is.

I'm glad things turned out OK for you. Amazing how they recover and are back to their crazy selves.

I hope Gabby is feeling good as new in no time! Poor girl. :(

Edited because sometimes I forget to turn my brain on before I type.

Thanks everyone. Her eyes were better after the steroid shot, and it took the Flagyl about 1 1/2 days to get her stool back to normal. Hope she will be more discerning when choosing her snacks in the future.

The same thing happened to Bruce a few weeks ago. He was outside rubbing his face all over the grass and bricks. I went out to see what was going on..and his eyes were all swollen. We rushed him to the vet for a shot and within a few hrs the swelling was gone. We're not sure if he just got stung or ate it but we figure it was a bee that caused the problem.

I hope Gabby is ok by now! It is scary! I went and got a prescription for an EPI pen from my vet, and I carry it around with me when we go out with Varg. I have it just in case.. Knowing how the most uncommon things have happened to him, I have to be prepared.
